2、MINATION The International Commission on Illumination (CIE) is an organization devoted to international co-operation and exchange of information among its member countries on all matters relating to the art and science of lighting. Its membership consists of the National Committees in about 40 count

3、ries. The objectives of the CIE are: 1. To provide an international forum for the discussion of all matters relating to the science, technology and art in the fields of light and lighting and for the interchange of information in these fields between countries. 2. To develop basic standards and proc

4、edures of metrology in the fields of light and lighting. 3. To provide guidance in the application of principles and procedures in the development of international and national standards in the fields of light and lighting. 4. To prepare and publish standards, reports and other publications concerne

5、d with all matters relating to the science, technology and art in the fields of light and lighting. 5. To maintain liaison and technical interaction with other international organizations concerned with matters related to the science, technology, standardization and art in the fields of light and li

6、ghting. The work of the CIE is carried out by Technical Committees, organized in seven Divisions. This work covers subjects ranging from fundamental matters to all types of lighting applications. The standards and technical reports developed by these international Divisions of the CIE are accepted t

7、hroughout the world. A plenary session is held every four years at which the work of the Divisions and Technical Committees is reported and reviewed, and plans are made for the future. The CIE is recognized as the authority on all aspects of light and lighting. As such it occupies an important posit

8、ion among international organizations. 35、 DURING WINTER BY MINIMAL EXPOSURE TO SUNBEDS: REQUIREMENTS AND WEIGHING THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES Summary Vitamin D is widely accepted as necessary for the regulation of calcium homeostasis and thus a healthy skeleton. Strictly a pro-hormone, it is unique amongst vitamins in having a second

36、source pathway that is independent of oral intake: a major source of the vitamin is through synthesis in the skin. For those living at middle to high latitudes there is a period of the year when it is impractical to synthesize any appreciable vitamin D in the skin through exposure to solar UV radiat

37、ion. To prevent a decline in vitamin D status an alternative source of the vitamin may be required at these times. This may be through diet (most usually low in vitamin D), supplementation, or an alternative source of UV radiation: the sun (by travelling to lower latitudes) or an artificial source.

38、It has been shown, by reference to published work and calculations presented here, that it is possible to raise / maintain vitamin D levels using artificial UV radiation as emitted by commercial sunbeds. However, current sunbeds available on the high street are not designed or optimized for this pur

39、pose, and provide a significantly higher UV-A burden than sunlight for the same vitamin D potential. Unless and until publicly available sunbeds are fully characterized for their ability to initiate previtamin D synthesis they cannot be recommended as a safe and effective method of maintaining vitam

40、in D status because the appropriate exposure (e.g. duration and frequency of use for this purpose) cannot be assessed. Sources designed specifically for the purpose, with a lower UV-A burden and clear application guidelines, would be more appropriate facilities for those who choose to gain vitamin D

41、 through artificial UV exposure, rather than by other means. Ceci peut tre ralis par une supplmentation nutritionnelle (habituellement faible en vitamine D) ou par une autre source de rayonnement UV : le soleil (voyages aux faibles latitudes) ou une source artificielle. 45、lis et des calculs prsents dans le document, quil est possible de relever/maintenir les niveaux de vitamine D par exposition au rayonnement UV artificiel tel quil est mis par des appareils de bronzage du commerce. Cependant ces appareils de bronzage, facilement accessibles dans la vie courante, ne s

46、ont ni conus ni optimiss dans ce but, et mettent des quantits dUVA plus leves que le rayonnement solaire pour le mme potentiel de production de vitamine D. Quoiquil en soit, et jusqu ce que des appareils de bronzage soient disponibles et parfaitement caractriss pour leur capacit initier la synthse d

47、e pr-vitamine D, ceux-ci pourraient tre recommands comme une mthode efficace et sure pour maintenir le niveau de la vitamine D car les expositions ncessaires (dure et frquence dutilisation dans ce but) ne peuvent tre values.
