23、tings,ancillaries,valvesand thermoplasticspressurepipes,includingintegralpipejoints. Thismethodisapplicabletojointswheresimilarordifferentmaterialsareconnected,wheresealing mechanismsincludeelastomericsealingringsoradhesives. Thismethodisapplicableinadditiontothehydrostaticpressuretestsformaterialsa

24、ndcomponents. 2 Principle Thetestsimulatesexpansionofthejointareaduetocreep.Thisisrelatedtothepermissibleworking conditionsfor50yearsandbasedonthepropertiesofthecomponentsassembled. Theleaktightnessofthejoint(s)istestedasanassemblycomprisingeither: a) atleastonefittingjoinedtopipes;or b) anancillary

25、componentoravalvejoinedtopipes;or c) apipetopipejoint. Thetestiscarriedoutforatleast1000hatambienttemperatureandatthemaximumallowedworking temperatureforthepipingsystemforwhichtheassemblyorjointisintendedtobeused. Thetestpieceanditsjoint(s)aresubjectedtoaspecifiedinternalhydrostaticwaterpressureata

26、specifiedtemperaturefortheperiodoftime(1000hormore)specifiedinthereferringstandard. Additionalreinforcementofthejointareaisnotpermittedforthistest. NOTE Itisassumedthatthefollowingtestparametersaresetbythestandardmakingreferenceto thisstandard: a) theminimumtestperiodunderpressure,i.e.1000hormore(se

33、etedpipeorjoinedwithanassembledfinishedproduct(suchasavalveorunion). Additionalcomponentsmaybeaddedtothetestassemblyasrequired. Theminimumlengthofthepipesectionshallbesuchthatitsfreelength, L,betweentheassembly undertesta

35、ndthejointortheendclosure(plugorcap)shallbeasspecifiedinthereferringstandard. NOTE Ifthefreelengthisnotspecifiedinthereferringstandard,itshouldbenotlessthanthe nominaloutsidediameterofthepipe,withaminimumof150mm. AllcomponentsshallconformtotheappropriatepartoftheapplicableSystemStandard.Inadditionth

36、e elastomericsealingringsshallconformtothemanufacturersspecifications. Theassemblyshallbecarriedoutinaccordancewiththemanufacturersinstructions. Fornonendloadbearingjointsconnectingrodsorexternalframesmaybeusedasnecessaryto preventanyseparation(see3.5). NOTE Forthistestcomponentsshouldbeselectedwhic

40、peraturesmorethan25Corforatleast20minfortesttemperaturesequaltoorlessthan25C.If thetesttemperatureisspecifiedas“ambienttemperature“,carryouttheconditioningatany temperaturebetween15Cand25C.Duringsubsequenttestinginaccordancewith5.3to5.5 inclusive,maintainthetesttemperatureconstanttowithin2Candwithin
