Theassessmentofdamageresistancetakesintoaccountthestructure,theaspectandthechanges inthemaximumtensilestrength,comparedtountreatedspecimensofthesamematerialquality.Itis assessedbycomparingthe

19、relativedecreaseofmaximumtensilestrengthofburiedspecimens,with thatofunburiedcontrolspecimens. Alongtermrotretardantfinishoranincreasedlongtermresistancemeetswiththerequirementsfor cellulosecontainingtextilesifthemaximumtensilestrengthofaburiedspecimen,comparedwith an unburiedspecimen,doesnotdecreas

Itallowsdistinctiontobemadebetweenrotretardantfinisheswithnolongtermresistance,with regularlong termresistanceandwithincreasedlongtermr

22、esistance,inordertoassessthesuitabilityforuseinthe tropics.
