3、Committee. A wide range of cleaning and polishing cloths is in use for different applications. BS 7033 specifies requirements for a limited range of cloths suitable for cleating and polishing applications, and is being published in five Parts as follows: Specification for optical polishing cloths fo

4、r use on transparent plastics panels; Specification for industrial wipers from reclaimed materials, and waste yarn for cleaning and lubricating purposes; Part 3 Specification for floorcloths and dishcloths; Part 4“ Specification for window cleaning cloths; Part 5* Specification for general polishing

5、 cloths. In this Part, requirements are specified for floorcloths and dishcloths. Many properties cannot be specified objectively and cannot therefore be included in this standard. Examples of such properties include colour, handle, appearance and details of additional design features. Public sector

6、 purchasing authorities may be able to supply standard patterns which cover these properties and serve to resolve any ambiguities of description. The standard ohiy covers the basic description of the products and their construction and performance require- ments. Purchasing authorities therefore may

7、 need to include additional information. Part 1 Part 2 Appendix A gives test methods and appendix B gives cross- reference information between the references used in this Part of BS 7033 and NATO stock numbers. NOTE. The titles of the publications referred to in this sta

11、ndard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this Part of BS 7033 the following definitions apply. 2.1 batch. A definite quantity of some commodity manufactured or produced under conditions which are presumed uniform. 2.2 dishcloth. A short-life or durable cloth suita

12、ble for washing-up applications and general wet wiping of hard surfaces. 2.3 floorcloth. A durable cloth suitable for wet cleaning of hard floors, or other similar surfaces, by hand or under a mopping tool. 3 Requirements 3.1 General Floorcloths and dishcloths shall be square or rectangular and shal

13、l comply with table 1. NOTE. The raw edges of the cloths should be secured sufficiently to maintain the integrity of the cloths during their projected working life. 3.2 Durability After washing 30 times in accordance with A.9, not more than one specimen shall exhibit surface damage such as holes or

14、tears. 4 Sampling, conditioning and compliance 4.1 Sampling Sampling shall be carried out in such a manner that samples taken are representative of the manufacturing, processing, dyeing or finishing batch from which they are drawn. NOTE. A sufficient number of representative samples shall be taken t

15、o carry out all the tests specified in table 1. 4.2 Conditioning of specimens Specimens shall be conditioned for a minimum of 24 h, and tested in the standard temperate atmosphere for testing of textiles as defined in BS 1051, .e. a relative humidity of 65 f 2 % and a temperature of 20 f 2 C. In the

16、 event of a dispute, samples shall be pre-conditioned for 4 h in a relative humidity not exceeding 10 % at a temperature not greater than 50 OC before being exposed to the standard temperate atmosphere for testing of textiles. 4.3 Compliance In the event of a dispute, if any of the specimens tested

17、do not comply with any requirement of this standard, the tests that the specimens have failed, shall be repeated twice. For this purpose, two further samples shall be taken from the same batch as the original sample, and the same number of specimens as for the original test shall be taken from each

18、sample so that duplicate tests may be conducted. If all the re-test results are in accordance with the require- ments given, the bulk of the cloths that the samples represent shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of this standard. If any of the results of the re-test are not in accordance

19、with the requirements, the bulk of the cloths that the samples represent shall be deemed not to comply with the requirements of this standard. 5 Marking Each package shall bear the following information: (a) the name, trademark, or other means of identification, of the manufacturer; (b) the number a

20、nd date of this British Standard, .e. BS 7033 : Part 3 : 1989* and the appropriate cloth . reference; (c) the month and year of manufacture; (d) the number of cloths per package. NOTE. In addition, each package should bear such other markings as the contract or order may direct. *Marking BS 7033 : P

21、art 3 : 1989 on or in relation to a product represents a manufacturers declaration of conformity, .e. a claim by or on behalf of the manufacturer that the product meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is therefore solely the responsibility of the person making the claim.

24、: 1989 Appendices Appendix A. Test methods A.l General Where water is used in any of the test methods it shall conform with grade 3 of BS 3978. A.2 Area and shortest edge A.2.1 Test at least five cloths, selected at random from the bulk, in accordance with 4.1. A.2.2 Determine the width of each spec

25、imen in accor- dance with BS 1930 except that it shall be measured to the nearest 5 mm. A.2.3 Determine the length of each specimen in accordance with BS 1931 except that it shall be measured to the nearest 5 mm. A.2.4 The area a (in cm2 1 of each specimen is calculated from the equation: where a=wL

26、 w is the width of the specimen (in cm); L is the length of the specimen (in cm). Calculate the mean area of the five specimens. A.2.5 Record the length of the shortest edge (width or length) of each of the five specimens. Calculate the mean length of the five shortest edges. A.3 Mass per unit area

27、A.3.1 Woven and knitted cloths Carry out the test in accordance with method 5 of BS 2471. A.3.2 Nonwoven cloths Carry out the test in accordance with method 3 of BS 247 except that the width of the cloth shall be determined in accordance with A.2. A.4 Wet burst strength Carry out the test in accorda

28、nce with BS 4768 except for the following modifications: Number of specimens. At least 1 O cloths shall be sampled in accordance with 4.1. Procedure. Immerse the test specimens for a minimum period of 5 min in water containing 1 g/L of sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate. Allow to drain for 5 f 1 min and

29、 immediately measure the bursting strength in accord- ance with BS 4768 using a 30 mm diameter diaphragm. A.5 Wet burst strength after washing Determine the wet burst strength in accordance with A.4 after carrying out 30 washing and drying cycles in accord- ance with A.9. Express the wet burst stren

30、gth after washing as a percentage of the wet burst strength before washing. A.6 Absorptive capacity A.6.1 Apparatus and reagents A.6.1.1 Cylindrical wire basket, open at one end, 80 mm high, 50 mm in diameter weighing 3.0 f 0.2 g and constructed of 0.8 f 0.02 mm diameter copper wire, in such a manne

31、r that the wires form a mesh approxi- mately 20 mm square. A.6.1.2 Balance, capable of weighing to within 0.002 g. A.6.1.3 Oven, capable of maintaining a temperature of 105 f 2 C. A.6.1.4 Watch glass, tared 125 f 5 mm in diameter. A.6.1.5 Stop watch, capable of being read to within 0.5 s. A.6.1.6 Wa

32、ter container, having minimum dimensions 200 mm x 150 mm and a minimum depth of 100 mm. A.6.1.7 Water, to which has been added 1.0 g/L of sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate. A.6.1.8 Rule, capable of being read to within 0.5 mm. A.6.2 Specimens From each of four cloths, conditioned in accordance with 4.2

33、, cut at least one strip approximately 75 mm wide and of length such that the mass of each strip is 5 f 0.1 g. Take half of the specimens in the machine direction and half in the cross direction. A.6.3 Procedure Measure the length and width of each specimen to the nearest 0.5 mm and record the resul

34、ts. Fill the water container with water to a depth such that the basket (A.6.1.1), when placed on its sides in the container, is submerged to a minimum depth of 25 mm. Dry the basket in the oven (A.6.1.3) at 105 f 2 OC for a minimum period of 2 h then llow it to cool to room temperature and weigh to

35、 the nearest 0.002 g. Roll each specimen into a loose roll of about the same diameter as that of the basket. Place the specimen in the basket, with its 75 mm edge parallel to the side of the basket so that the specimen fills the basket. Weigh the basket and specimen to the nearest 0.002 g. 4 BS 7033

36、 : Part 3 : 1989 Drop the basket, containing the specimen, on its side into the water from a height of 25 mm. Allow the basket and specimen to remain submerged for a minimum period of 5 min, then remove by grasping the open end of the basket. Suspend the basket plus specimen and allow it to drain un

37、til the rate of dripping is not greater than one drop per 10 s and then immediately weigh the basket and specimen to the nearest 0.002 g, in the tared watch glass. A.6.4 Calculation The absorptive capacity A (in g/m2) is calculated from the equation: m2 -ml A= ( Lb )IO where ml is the mass of the wa
