3、). The requirement is applicable to products which give a flashpoint within the terms of the regulations and differentiates between those which are combustible and those which are not. The method is technically identical with that in Schedule2of the above regulations, in which its application is not

10、n is noted after application of a flame under standard conditions. 3 Apparatus The following are required: 1) Combustibility tester, consisting of an aluminium alloy or a suitable corrosion-resisting metal block of high thermal conductivity, having a concave depression or well. The metal block has a
11、 thermometer embedded in it. A small gas jet on a swivel is attached to the metal block. The dimensions of the tester shall be as given inTable 1and shown in Figure 1. 2) Gauge for checking the height of the gas jet above the top of the well. 3) Thermometer conforming to the dimensions and tolerance
12、s given in Table 2. 4) Hotplate fitted with a temperature controlling device. Other controlled methods of heating the metal block may be employed. 5) Stop watch or other suitable timing device. 6) Hypodermic syringe, complying with the requirements of BS1619 2) , capable of delivering2ml to an accur

The sample shall
14、 be supplied and stored in an air-tight container. 4.2 Because of the possibility of loss of volatile constituents, the sample shall receive only the minimum of treatment to ensure homogeneity. After removing the test portion, the sample container shall be immediately closed tightly to ensure that n
15、o volatile flammable components escape from the container; in the event of this happening, an entirely new sample shall be taken. 5 Procedure 5.1 Set up the apparatus in a completely draught-free area (see precautionary note), and in the absence of a strong light (to facilitate observation of the fl

The test should not be carried out in a small confined area,e.g.a glove box, because of the potential explosive hazard. 5.2 Place the metal block on the hotplate fitted with a temperature controlling device or heat the metal block by other suitable means, so tha

Use the gauge to check that the jet is2.2mm above the top of the well when in the test position. 5.3 Light the test flame with the jet in the “off” position away from the
