3、es,commonly known as “barrel plugs.”devices. A barrel blocking device is a critical piece of safetyequipment used in the sport of paintball.Paintball is a sport that, like all sports, has intrinsic hazards. These hazards include being hit bypaintballs. Protective equipment cannot eliminate all injur
4、ies but will substantially reduce theirseverity and frequency. A barrel blocking device is an additional safety device that, when meeting thisstandard and properly used, can substantially reduce the severity and frequency of injuries. Paintballmarker barrels are not all the same inside diameter, thu
5、s necessitating performance specifications forbarrel blocking devices that match the barrel blocking device to a barrel diameter. This specificationis written within the current state-of-the-art of paintball marker barrel and paintball barrel blockingdevice technology. The intent is to revise this s
6、pecification whenever substantive information becomesavailable which justifies revising existing requirements or adding new requirements.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers paintball barrel blocking devices that may be inserted or otherwise function to prevent a paintballfrom leaving the muzzle or
7、 the confines of the barrel blocking device intact.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The inch-pound units given in parentheses are provided forinformation only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its us

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 Paintball Marker Terms:3.1.1.1 auto-triggera trigger which, when held in the discharge position, will automatically cause the paintball marker todischarge when the pump or bolt action is manipulated.3
10、.1.1.2 barrelthat portion of a paintball marker through which the paintball is discharged.3.1.1.3 barrel blocking devicea safety device that prevents an intact paintball from being accidentally discharged from themuzzle of the paintball marker or leaving the confines of the barrel blocking device.3.
11、1.1.4 burst mode markera burst mode marker may discharge two or more times per trigger cycle or may discharge two ormore times with the pull and release of the trigger.3.1.1.5 discharge modea mode that controls the number of paintballs discharged per trigger cycle.1This specification is under the ju

17、on.3.1.1.8 modified fully automatic mode 1 markera semiautomatic mode marker which, after the trigger is pulled at least threetimes within 1 s, is able to function in a fully automatic mode with a firing rate not to exceed 15 shots per second until the triggeris released.3.1.1.9 modified burst mode
18、2 markera semi-automatic mode marker which, after the trigger is pulled at least three timeswithin 1 s, is able to cycle more than one time per trigger pull with a firing rate not to exceed 15 shots per second.3.1.1.10 muzzlethe end of the barrel at which the ball exits the barrel.3.1.1.11 muzzle di
19、ameterthe inside barrel diameter as measured at the muzzle.3.1.1.12 paintballa spherical ball, commonly with a diameter of 17.3 mm (0.68 in.), comprised of a shell and a fill, designedto be expelled from a paintball marker and conforming to Specification F1979.3.1.1.13 paintball markera device speci
20、fically designed to discharge paintballs.3.1.1.14 pump mode markera marker that requires the operator to manually cock or engage the sear of the marker before eachshot by a means of a pump, bolt, lever, cocking handle, or similar device.3.1.1.15 semi-automatic mode markera semi-automatic marker disc
21、harges one time with each trigger cycle. Markers that“store” the number of trigger pulls and discharge more than one paintball at some point do not meet this definition. Markers thatoperate in any other discharge mode(s) do not meet this definition.3.1.1.16 standard ambient temperature (SAT)used to
22、describe a substance at a temperature of 25 6 2C (77 6 4F).4. Significance and Use4.1 This specification establishes performance requirements and test methods to provide a reasonable degree of safety in thenormal use of barrel blocking devices in paintball markers.5. Conformance5.1 Barrel blocking d
23、evices shall not, either by label or other means, indicate conformance with this specification unless theyconform to all applicable requirements contained herein.6. General Requirements6.1 PerformanceUpon any discharge of a paintball from a paintball marker with a barrel blocking device properly ins
24、talledaccording to the manufacturers instructions, the barrel blocking device must remain inserted or over the muzzle and prevent anintact paintball from exiting the muzzle or the confines of the muzzle blocking device.
