1、Designation: D 4272 09Standard Test Method forTotal Energy Impact of Plastic Films By Dart Drop1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 4272; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision.
2、A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This test method describes the determination of the totalenergy impact of plastic films by measuring the kinetic energylost by a fre

Data obtained by thistest method cannot necessarily be compared directly with thoseobtained by other test methods.1This test method is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D20 on Plasticsand is the direct responsibility o

Hence, impact values expressed in joul

Data from this test method are compa-rable only for specimens that vary by no more than 615 %from the nominal or average thickness of the specimens tested.5.5 The test results obtained by this test method ar

The influence ofvariability of data obtained by this procedure will, therefore, depend strongly on the sample quality, uniformity of filmthickness, the presence of die marks, contaminants, etc.5.6 Several impact test methods are used for film. It

A study was con-ducted in which four films made from two resins (polypropy-lene and linear low-density polyethylene), with two filmthicknesses for each resin, were impacted using Test MethodsFIG. 1
