17、ethods5.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following ASTM testmethods:5.1.1 Apparent Specific GravityDetermine the apparentspecific gravity by any convenient method that is accurate tothe third decimal place, the temperature of both specimen a

18、ndwater being 20 or 25C. (See Guide D 268 and Test MethodD 4052.)5.1.2 ColorTest Method D 1209.NOTE 4Diacetone alcohol has a tendency to develop yellow color thatis hastened by contact with iron or rust during storage. Protection fromiron is obtained with a zinc silicate liner.5.1.3 Distillation Ran

19、geTest Method D 1078, using atemperature measuring device having a range of 123 to 177Cand a resolution of 0.1C.NOTE 5In order to avoid an erratic value for the initial boiling pointthe distillation flask should be clean and free of any residual carbondeposit. This exception to the suggestion in Not

20、e 3 of Test Method D 1078is specifically applicable to diacetone alcohol.
