Scope*1.1 This specification covers prefaced concrete and ca

3、lciumsilicate masonry units with the exposed-to-view-in-place sur-faces covered at the point of manufacture with resin, resin andinert filler, or cement and inert filler to produce a smoothresinous tile facing. This specification does not address, andtherefore is not applicable to, ground-face concr

4、ete masonryunits that are manufactured by grinding a thin layer off thesurface of a concrete masonry unit to expose aggregates withinand polishing to produce a smooth, architectural finish.1.2 The text of this specification references notes andfootnotes which provide explanatory material. Facing Requirements5.1 Resistance to Crazing, Cracking, or SpallingThereshall be no crazing, cracking, or spalling of the facing materialwhen the unit is tested in accordance with 7.2.1This specification

15、hen viewed without magnification, thereshall be no failure of the adhesion of the facing material to theunit at the time of failure of the entire prefaced unit when testedin compression in accordance with 7.4.5.4 AbrasionThe wear index shall exceed 130 whentested in accordance with 7.5.5.5 Surface B

16、urning CharacteristicsWhen tested in ac-cordance with 7.6, the surfaces of the prefaced units shall havea flame spread classification not greater than 25 withoutevidence of continued progressive combustion and shall have asmoke density rating not greater than 50.5.6 Color, Tint, or TextureColor, tin

17、t, or texture shall be asspecified. When tested in accordance with 7.7 and thencompared with an unexposed unit, there shall be no change intexture, and color differences shall not exceed 5.0 Delta units.5.7 Soiling and CleansabilityThere shall not be a stainvisible when specimens are tested in accor

18、dance with 7.8.1 andthen viewed from a distance of 10 ft (3m) under an illuminationof not less than 50 fc (538.2 lm/m2) by an observer with normalvision. Spotting media shall be observed to be completelyremoved from specimens when tested in accordance with 7.8.2and 7.8.3 and then viewed from a dista

19、nce of 10 ft (3 m) underan illumination of not less than 50 fc (538.2 lm/m2)byanobserver with normal vision.5.8 ReportTest reports shall show the results of testsrequired by 5.1 through 5.7.6. Dimensional Tolerances6.1 Face DimensionThe total variation from specifieddimensions in the finished face d

20、imensions of the units shallnot exceed 6116 in. (1.6 mm) from specified dimensions.6.2 DistortionThe distortion of the plane and edges of theface of individual units from the corresponding plane surfaceand edges of the unit shall not exceed116 in. (1.6 mm).7. Sampling and Testing7.1 The purchaser or

21、 authorized representative shall beaccorded proper facilities to inspect and sample the prefacedunits at the place of manufacture from the lots ready fordelivery.7.2 CrazingResistance to crazing of prefaced units shallbe determined by oven drying from a saturated condition inaccordance with the abso

22、rption testing procedure of TestMethods C140, allowing the specimen to cool to room tem-perature, and resaturating.7.3 Resistance to ChemicalsApply a convenient quantityof the chemicals, as shown in Table 1, one at a time on thefacing material and leave covered with a watchglass for theduration of t

23、he test period. For volatile chemicals, place asaturated wad under the watchglass and keep saturated. Uponcompletion of the test period, wipe the test area clean with aclean cloth. The condition of the test area shall show no changeafter testing with each chemical for the specified time pre-scribed

24、in Table 1.7.4 Adhesion of FacingTest three prefaced units forcompressive strength in accordance with Test Methods C140.Apply the compressive load until failure of the entire unitoccurs. When viewed without magnification, there shall be novisible failure of the adhesion of the facing material to the

25、 unitat the time of failure of the entire prefaced unit.7.5 AbrasionDetermine the wear index in accordancewith Test Method C501 using Taber Abraser Research Model503 with a Taber CS-17 abrasive wheel and a 1000-g weightfor 500 wear cycles.7.6 Surface BurningDetermine flame spread and smokeratings in

26、 accordance with Test Method E84.7.7 Color ChangeDetermine color difference using CIEL*, a*, b*, or CIELAB (1976) with two-degree observer,illuminant C, and specular excluded in accordance with TestMethod D2244. Take measurements before and after 500 h ofaccelerated weathering using the single-arc a

27、pparatus in accor-dance with Practice D822. Use test panels not less than 3 in.(76.2 mm) wide by 6 in. (152.4 mm) long. Test panels need notbe conditioned.7.8 Soiling and Cleansability:7.8.1 Staining MediaPour a stain consisting of 0.5 g ofoil-soluble dye (C.I. Solvent Orange 7, C.I. 12140), 1.0 g o

28、flanolin, and 5.0 g of SAE 10 oil one at a time on an areaapproximately12 in. (12.7 mm) in diameter on the preface sideof units. Allow the stain to remain on the specimens for aperiod of 4 days. Clean the specimen for 80 cycles inaccordance with Test Method D2486 using an industrial-gradecleaning ag

29、ent. Examine the cleaned surface for the followingdegrees of intensity (see 5.7):7.8.1.1 Stain completely removed.7.8.1.2 Trace.7.8.1.3 Evident.7.8.1.4 Pronounced.7.8.1.5 Very pronounced.7.8.2 Spotting MediaApply each of the following stainson each specimen:7.8.2.1 Writing Pencil, No. 2Apply the pen

Inspection8.1 All prefaced units shall be sound and free of cracks orother defects that interfere with the proper placing of t

35、he unitsor impair the strength or permanence of the construction.8.2 SurfaceThe coated surface shall be free of chips,crazes, cracks, blisters, crawling, holes, and other imperfec-tions detracting from the appearance of the units when viewedfrom a distance of 5 ft (1.5 m) perpendicular to the coated

36、surface and using daylight without direct sunlight.9. Compliance9.1 If a sample fails to conform to the specified require-ments, the manufacturer shall be permitted to remove unitsfrom the shipment. A new sample shall be selected by thepurchaser from remaining units from the shipment with asimilar c

37、onfiguration and dimension and tested at the expenseof the manufacturer. If the second sample meets the specifiedrequirements, the remaining portion of the shipment repre-sented by the sample meets the specified requirements. If thesecond sample fails to meet the specified requirements, theremaining

38、 portion of the shipment represented by the samplefails to meet the specified requirements.NOTE 2Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, the cost oftests is typically borne as follows: (1) if the results of the tests show thatthe units do not conform to the requirements of this specificati
