15、rtsState if certification ortest reports are required (Section 16).5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Heat Treatment The final heat treatment shall be asolution anneal. Minor cold working such as flattening ortemper rolling may be performed after the final solutionannealing treatment.NOTE 1This recomme

16、nded solution anneal consists of heating to aminimum temperature of 2000F (1090C) and cooling rapidly to roomtemperature.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The material sampled, in accordance with 11.2, shallconform to the composition limits prescribed in Table 1.6.2 If a product analysis is subsequently ma

17、de, the materialshall conform to the composition limits with the productanalysis variation prescribed in Table 2.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as to themechanical property prescribed in Table 3.8. Intergranular Corrosion Test8.1 All material supplied to

18、 this specification shall becapable of passing the intergranular corrosion test, but the testneed not be performed on any given lot unless it is specified onthe purchase order. If the test is specified, it shall be performedby the manufacturer on specimens taken in the as-shippedcondition. Specimens

19、 shall be tested in the sensitized condition(1 h at 1250F (677C), and tested in accordance with PracticeC of Practices A 262. The corrosion rate shall not exceed 2.5mils/month (165 mg/dm2day).9. Dimensions and Permissible Variations9.1 SheetThe material referred to as sheet shall conformto the varia

20、tions in dimensions prescribed in Tables 4-9,inclusive.9.2 Cold-Rolled StripThe material referred to as cold-rolled strip shall conform to the permissible variations indimensions prescribed in Tables 10-13, inclusive.9.3 PlateThe material referred to as plate shall conform tothe permissible variatio

21、ns in dimensions prescribed in Tables14-19, inclusive.9.4 Edges for Cold-Rolled Strip:9.4.1 The various types of edges procurable shall be asfollows:9.4.1.1 No. 1 EdgeRolled edge, contour as specified.9.4.1.2 No. 3 EdgeAn edge produced by slitting.9.4.1.3 No. 5 EdgeApproximately square edge produced

22、by rolling or filing, or both, after slitting.10. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance10.1 The material shall be free of injurious imperfectionsand shall correspond to the designated finish as described asfollows:10.1.1 SheetThe various types of finish procurable onsheet products shall be as follows:

23、10.1.1.1 No. 1 Finish Hot rolled, annealed, and descaled;produced by hot rolling to specified thicknesses followed byannealing and descaling (see 10.2).10.1.1.2 No. 2D Finish Dull, cold-rolled finish; producedby cold rolling to the specified thickness, annealing, anddescaling. The dull finish result

24、s from the descaling andpickling operations.10.1.1.3 No. 2B Finish Bright, cold-rolled finish; pro-duced by giving a final light cold-rolled pass with polishedrolls, to a sheet that has been annealed and descaled.10.1.1.4 No. 4 Finish General-purpose polished finish.Following initial grinding with c

25、oarser abrasives, sheets aregenerally finished last with abrasives approximately 120 to 150mesh. Sheets can be produced with one or two sides polished.When polished on one side only, the other side may be roughground in order to obtain the necessary flatness.10.1.1.5 Bright Annealed Bright finish pr

26、oduced by coldrolling to thickness, then annealing in a protective atmosphere.10.1.2 StripThe type of finish procurable on cold-rolledstrip shall be as follows:10.1.2.1 No. 1 Finish Cold rolled to specified thickness,annealed, and pickled (see 10.2). Appearance of this finish is adull gray.10.1.2.2

Sampling11.1 Lots of Chemical Analysis, Mechanical Testing, andCorrosion Testing:11.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.11.1.2 PlateA lot of plate for testing and inspectionpurposes s

32、hall consist of the products resulting from the rollingof one heat of material in the same condition and specifiedthickness, solution annealed by the same practice, but in nocase more than 25 000 lb (11 340 kg).11.1.3 Sheet and Strip A lot of sheet or strip for testingand inspection purposes shall c

33、onsist of material from one heatin the same form (sheet or strip), condition, finish, andspecified thickness, solution annealed by the same practice butin no case more than 25 000 lb (11 340 kg).11.2 Sampling for Chemical Analysis:11.2.1 A representative sample shall be taken from each lotduring pou

34、ring or subsequent processing.11.2.2 Product analysis, if performed, shall be wholly theresponsibility of the purchaser.11.3 Sampling for Mechanical Tests:11.3.1 A sample of the material to provide test specimensfor mechanical tests shall be taken from such a location in eachlot as to be representat

35、ive of that lot.11.3.2 When samples are to be taken after delivery, thepurchaser of material ordered to cut lengths may request on thepurchase order additional material of adequate size to providesample coupons for inspection purposes.11.4 Sampling for Corrosion TestsA sample for corrosiontesting sh

36、all be taken from a location chosen to be representa-tive of the lot.12. Number of Tests and Retests12.1 In the case of sheet or strip supplied in coil form, twoor more tension tests (one from each end of each coil), and oneor more hardness tests shall be made on specimens taken fromeach end of the

37、coil. When material is supplied in flat sheet, flatstrip, or plate, one tension and one or more hardness tests shallbe made on each 100 or less sheets, strips, or plates of the samelot. When specified, one corrosion test shall be conducted foreach lot.12.2 If any specimens selected to represent any

38、lot fail tomeet any of the test requirements, the material represented bysuch specimens may be retested. (12.7mm) in thickness shall be of the full thickness of the materialand machined to the form and dimensions shown for thesheet-type specimen in Test Methods E 8.

(12.7 mm) and over shall be of thefull thickness of the material, machined to the form anddimensions shown for the plate-type specimen in Test MethodsE 8, or shall be the largest possible round specimen shown inTest Methods E 8. Tension test specimens shal

49、l be taken frommaterial after final heat treatment and shall be selected in thetransverse direction unless prohibited by width.13.2 Corrosion test specimens shall be prepared so that atleast one major surface represents the as-supplied surface, withonly light surface grinding permitted on this surface.14.
