Process4.1 The steel shall be made from any process.4.2 If a specific type of melting is required by the purchaser,it shall be stated on the purchase order.4.3 The primary melting m
21、ay incorporate separate degas-sing or refining and may be followed by secondary melting,using electroslag remelting or vacuum remelting.4.4 Steel may be cast in ingots or may be strand cast. Whensteel of different grades is sequentially strand cast, identifica-tion of the resultant transition materi
22、al is required. Theproducer shall remove the transition material by an establishedprocedure that positively separates the grades.5. Chemical Composition5.1 Chemical AnalysisSamples for chemical analysis andmethod of analysis shall be in accordance with Test Methods,Practices, and Terminology A 751.5
23、.2 Heat AnalysisIf the heat analysis reported by the steelproducer is not sufficiently complete for conformance with theheat analysis requirements of the applicable product specifica-tion to be fully assessed, the manufacturer may complete theassessment of conformance with such heat analysis require
24、-ments by using a product analysis for the specified elementsthat were not reported by the steel producer, provided thatproduct analysis tolerances are not applied and the heatanalysis is not altered.5.2.1 For stainless steels ordered under product specifica-tions referencing this specification of g
