3、18, 1993 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION CLAMP ASSEMBLY - EXHAUST MUFFLER AND TAILPIPE The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description (CID) as a replacement for MS53041B(AT), which is canceled. 1. SCOPE. This CID covers one type of clamp assembly of many d

4、ifferent sizes. Each clamp assembly consists of two identical clamp halves, two screws, two washers and two nuts. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Design and construction. The clamp assembly shall be designed and constructed in accordance with figure 1. 2.2 Materials. The material shall be sheet or st

5、rip carbon steel, either hot rolled cold quenched pickled in oil conforming to ASTM A1011/A1011M or cold rolled temper 2 to 5 conforming to ASTM A109/A109M. The use of recovered material made in compliance with regulatory requirements is acceptable providing that all requirements of this CID are met

6、 (see 3). 2.3 Identification and marking. Identification and marking shall be permanent and legible and shall include the manufacturers identification code (CAGE) and part identification number (PIN) (see 6.2 and 6.4). Workmanship shall be in accordance with the manufacture of a high quality clamp assembly. This shall be evidenced by the absence of defects which are detrimental to its ap

12、pearance or serviceability, such as; burrs, sharp edges, cracks, presence of foreign material, broken or damaged parts. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Ac

13、quisition Regulation (FAR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. The contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspections (examinations and tests). 4.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the pro

14、duct offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. Items with known defects

15、 shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 5. PACKAGING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as spe

16、cified in the contract or order (see 6.2). 6. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contra
