8、surfacefires in flammable or combustible liquid tanks or repositories constructed in accordance with the applicableAmerican Petroleum Institute publication. The flammable and combustible fuel types are specified in themanufacturers instructions.1.2 Products are intended to be applied on top of an in
9、ternal floating roof of an enclosed fixed roof tankas supplemental protection or directly on the surface of the flammable or combustible fuel of an enclosedfixed roof tank as primary protection.1.3 Products are intended to be used in installations that comply with local regulations for vaporemission

11、terpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.4 Glossary4.1 For the purpose of these requirements, the following definitions apply.4.2 MEDIA BLANKET The layer resulting from the agglomeration of individual buoyant media over thearea in which a buoyant media product has been a
12、pplied.4.3 MEDIA DEPTH The calculated depth to which a specified volume of media will cover a givensurface area when evenly distributed. Media Depth in inches (mm x 25.4) may be calculated using thefollowing formula:Media Depth = V/AWhere:V= specified volume in cubic feet (m3x 35.31) of media to be

14、ia depth for each fuel type that the buoyant mediais intended to protect.5.1.2 A required percent overfill shall be determined in accordance with 9.4.1 (a) and noted in themanufacturers installation procedure. The application depth required for any buoyant media installationshall include this overfi
15、ll in order to account for media that is damaged during shipping or application.PERFORMANCE6 Test Equipment6.1 FIRE TEST PAN - The fire test pan is to be square, straight sided, with a minimum area of 50 squarefeet (4.65 m2). The pan is to be of steel not less than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) thick with liqui
16、d tight welded jointsand provided with 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) thick angle or equivalent to reinforce the upper edge. Thereinforcement is to be continuous around the perimeter of the pan and is to form a turned-out edge flushwith the top edge of the pan. The top edge surface so formed is to be 1-3/4 inch
17、 (44 mm). The reinforcingangle, when used, is to be continuously welded to the outside of the pan at the top edge and tack weldedat the edge of the lower lip of the angle.6.2 FIRE TEST PAN BARRIER The fire test pan barrier shall completely surround the fire test pan onfour sides and extend 2 feet (0
18、.61 m) above the top lip of the fire test pan. There shall be not more than1 inch (25 mm) of clearance between the fire test pan and the fire test pan barrier. A cover that providescomplete coverage of the test pan is to be included. The barrier is to be of noncombustible construction.6.3 FLOW-OVER
19、TEST PAN The flow-over test pan is to be square, straight sided, with a minimumarea of 12-1/2 square feet (1.16 m2). The pan is to be of steel not less than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) thick withliquid tight welded joints.6.4 STOVE PIPE A device intended to provide an open area for the 1 minute free burn duri
20、ng theburnback test. The stove pipe shall be constructed of 2818 gauge (.015 .048 inch thickness) sheetsteel. The stove pipe is to be cylindrical in shape with an inside diameter not less than 12 inch (305 mm)and length not greater than 14 inch (356 mm).MAY 10, 2016 UL 63345 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL

22、)Dry Point 212F (100C)Specific Gravity (60F/60F)(15.6C/15.6C) 0.68-0.73b) ETHANOL Anhydrous ethyl alcohol polar solvent containing denaturing additives withinthe following ranges:Ethanol Minimum 93.3 WT%Methyl Isobutyl Ketone Maximum 4.9 WT%Heptane Maximum 1.3 WT%Water Maximum 5.0 WT%c) DIESEL IRM 9
23、03 grade test fuel as defined in the Standard Test Method for RubberProperty-Effect of Liquids, ASTM D471.d) TOULENE Methylbenzene aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, CAS Registry Number 108-88-3, having a purity of no less than 99.0% by weight.e) ISO-OCTANE Reference Fuel A test fuel as defined in the St
24、andard Test Method forRubber Property-Effect of Liquids, ASTM D471.f) CRUDE OIL Unrefined blend of hydrocarbons having varying molecular weights and othernaturally-occurring organic compounds having the characteristics specified in the buoyant mediamanufacturers instructions.g) POLAR SOLVENT FUELS S
