4、fety Part 1: General Requirements,orUL 62368-1, “Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment Part 1:Safety Requirements, andCAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60950-1, Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 1: GeneralRequirements, or “CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 62368-1-12, First Edition (IEC 623
5、68-1:2010, MOD)These are supplemented, for the United States and Canada with the following requirements. Unlessotherwise specified, paragraph references are to 60950-1 with correlating references in parenthesis to62368-1.1.1.2 (4.1.5) hand-held laser pointers powered by batteries and normally used i
6、n home, office, andcommercial environments4.3.8 Batteries (Annex M, additional requirement)Safety requirements of Annex I of UL 60065 are applicable to the user accessible coin / button cell batterycompartment.4.3.13.5.1 and NAE Lasers (including laser diodes) (10.3.1.2)The laser class emitted by th
7、e laser pointer device shall not exceed Class II (US CFR Title 21, ChapterI, Subchapter J, Part 1040) or Class 2 (IEC 60825-1).Note: The class designation (II or 2) used is dependent on the manufacturers choice.To determine the laser class emitted, the laser testing and laser classification calculat
8、ions are asprescribed in the aforementioned applicable laser safety standard. 9、f the device to US CFR Title 21, Chapter I, Subchapter J, Part 1040 is typically withoutconsideration of single fault conditions.The laser class determination shall consider the additive effects of multiple wavelengths if more than onewavelength is emitted from the device.The following Caution state
10、ments shall be provided in the user information / manual: CAUTION: Do not aim the laser pointer at aircraft or into another persons eyes. CAUTION: This laser pointer is not a toy and should not be used by children.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:The basic safety requirements for class III devices are specifi
11、ed in the referenced safety standards(60950-1 or 62368-1). They each address laser safety but do not fully anticipate application to laserpointers. These certification requirement decisions supplement the basic requirements of the standards.Note that the Canadian laser product safety regulation is t
12、he Radiation Emitting Devices Act, ChapterR-1:2001, (RED) issued by Department of Justice Canada. RED cites both the US 21 CFR and IEC 60825requirements as applicable in Canada for the purpose of radiation protection to persons. Local (provincial)regulations may cite additional requirements. The las
13、er pointer requirements for Canada, as for the US,are those accepted at the national level.The laser pointer devices are limited to maximum Class II or 2 levels of radiation emitted for the followingreasons. Laser Pointers emit a collimated laser beam with optical powers that can approach hazardousl
