The device is not powered dur

4、ing the test, but the assumption is that users mightpower the device after such an event to see if it is still functioning. Results to a Devices with glass orthermoplastic bulbs or lenses shall be considered additionally assessed as follows:a) In the event the bulb or lens surrounding the LEDs does

5、not break, the results can beconsidered acceptable. For devices rated for dry or damp locations, there shall be no breakage,cracks, holes or openings in the bulb or lens that permits access to hazardous live parts, asdetermined by Clause 6.7.b) In the event the bulb or lens surrounding the LEDs does

6、 break or crack, and For devicesrated for wet locations, there shall be no breakage, cracks, holes or openings.1) the device is rated for dry or damp locations, there shall be no breakage, cracks,holes, or openings of the glass or polymeric bulb resulting in risk of electric shock byaccessing the li

11、ON:With traditional incandescent and fluorescent lamps, the issue of lamp damage was straightforward: oncethe outer glass envelope was damaged, the lamp ceased to work. In addition, due to the nature of theselamps any damage tended to be severe and visually apparent to an end-user. After many decade

12、s ofincandescent and fluorescent lamp use, the need to discard damaged lamps without first energizing themis considered self-evident and deeply ingrained in the general public.With the advent of general-use LED lamps, an end-users behavior was less predictable. LED lamps canbe constructed with subst

13、antial metal and plastic components, and surface damage to parts of the outerenclosure does not necessarily prevent normal lamp illumination. This, coupled with their relatively highprice as compared to incandescent lamps, meant that end-users were likely to energize lamps after animpact to determin

14、e if they were still useable. This made any enclosure damage a potential shock hazard,hence the accessibility determination in Clause SA8.8.2.However, many LED lamps are now designed and constructed to resemble traditional incandescent lightbulbs. These lamps are mostly or completely made from glass

15、 or thin plastic. 16、e area, the likelihood of anend-user installing and energizing them becomes remote. A lamp that would most likely be taken out ofservice and discarded would not be considered a shock risk. This decision quantifies this level of damageas 75% of the lamps surface area above its lamp base contacts. Lam
