5、ing AMS6487K Steel, Bars, and Forgings 5.0Cr - 1.3Mo - 0.50V (0.38 - 0.43C) (H-11) Consumable Electrode Vacuum Melted (Composition similar to UNS T20811) RATIONALE AMS6487L is a Five Year Review and update of this specification revises micro-inclusion testing (3.4.2.1), the test procedure for decarb
6、urization (3.4.3.4), quality (3.5), and reporting (4.4). 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a premium aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, and forging stock. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for parts requiring through hardening to a minimu
7、m hardness of 50 HRC in section thicknesses up to 12 inches (305 mm) with a combination of high strength, fatigue resistance, ductility, and thermal stability for operation in the range of -100 to +1000 F (-73 to +538 C), but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and proces
8、sing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking after heat treatment; ARP1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E350, by spectrochemical methods, or by other

18、all meet the applicable requirements of AMS2259. 3.2 Melting Practice Steel shall be multiple melted using consumable electrode vacuum melting practice in the remelt cycle (VAR). 3.3 Condition The product shall be supplied in the following condition; hardness and tensile strength shall be determined
19、 in accordance with ASTM A370: 3.3.1 Bars Bar shall not be cut from plate (also see 4.4.2). 3.3.1.1 Bars 0.500 Inch (12.70 mm) and Under in Nominal Diameter or Least Distance Between Parallel Sides Annealed and cold finished having tensile strength not higher than 135 ksi (931 MPa) or equivalent har
20、dness (see 8.2). 3.3.1.2 Bars Over 0.500 Inch (12.70 mm) in Nominal Diameter or Least Distance Between Parallel Sides Hot finished and annealed or annealed and cold finished having hardness not higher than 311 HB, or equivalent (see 8.3). 3.3.2 Forgings Annealed in accordance with AMS-H-6875 to a ha
21、rdness not higher than 283 HB, or equivalent (see 8.3). 3.3.3 Forging Stock As ordered by the forging manufacturer. 22、A370: 3.4.1 Macrostructure Visual examination of transverse full cross-sections from bars, billets, and forging stock, etched in hot hydrochloric acid in accordance with ASTM A604, shall show no pipe or cracks. Porosity, segregation, inclusions, and other imperfections shall be no worse than the mac
