The fire, whic

2、h ignited on the building roof, caused no personnel injuries and resulted in damage under $5,000. The fire was the result of cutting torch operations required in the removal of a number of steel i-beams located next to a wood structure. This fire occurred although all reasonable fire prevention meas

3、ures had been used to protect the facility.Lesson(s) Learned: Although this fire happened some time ago, there were no personnel injuries, and damage was relatively minor, there were some significant lessons learned:1. Sparks and hot chips generated during the cutting operations apparently came to r

4、est in a hidden area, created a hot spot, and, approximately 90 minutes after cutting operations were completed, the hot spot ignited into a full fire. Fire watches normally cease one hour after cutting operations are ended. Under certain circumstances, such as those found in this situation, existin

5、g procedures may be inadequate to insure no fire hazard remains. Therefore, each job should be individually evaluated to make sure the fire watch surveillance period is sufficient.2. Security measures should cover entry of emergency personnel to controlled/limited access areas. Unnecessary delays ca

6、n significantly increase fire damage.3. In this incident, use of material stored in ready access for the covering of electronic equipment in the event of fire prevents water damage. Readiness of this type of material could have benefit in other facilities should a fire occur.4. Standpipe system boss
