This specification establishes the requirements for performance, design, development, test, and compatibility for the Inertial AN/ASN-l30A Aircraft Navigation Set. 2. 20、ons unless a specific exemption hac been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Item. description. 3.1.1 Lnertial navigation set (INS). The inertial navigation set shall be a self-conained, fully automatic, inertial reference for piloting and navigating the aircraft over land and sea at all attitudes, longi

21、tudes and latitudes, The INS shall he comprised of the assemblies specified in 3.1.1. and 3.1J.2. 3.1.1,L Inertial navigation unit (INU) . The INU provides a stable element, decoupled from aircraft motion, for attitude, heading and velocity, reference information and inertial alignment/navigation co

T

24、he INU mount shall allow for angular adjustment of the INU about all three axes. the INU and INU mount.envelope. Figure 1 depicts 3.2 Parts and materials. In the selection of parts and materials, fulfillment of major desiqn objectives shall be the prime consideration. In so doing, the fol lowing ord

25、er of precedence shall apply for selecting types of electronic parts: a. Maximum use of monolithic microelectronic integrated circuits. b. Thin film, thick film or hybrid microcircuit devices. c. Discrete parts. d. Other parts and materials requirements shall conform to MIL-E-5400. e. Nonreparable s

26、ubassembl ies shall be used in accordance with MIL-STO-2084 and as specified in MIL-E-5400. f. When previously produced models of this equipment did not use nonreparable subassembl ies, the design shall not be changed to employ nonreparable assemblies without the approval of the procuring activity (

27、see 6.2.2). 3.2.1 Nonstandard parts and materials approval. Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials (including electron tubes, transistors and diodes) other than microelectronic devices shall be obtained as specified in MIL-E-5400. a Microelectronic devices shall be approved as speci

28、fied in MIL-STD-965. 3.2.2 Microelectronic modular assemblies, When used, microelectronic modular assembl ies shall meet the reauirements of MIL-STD-965. Conformal coatings , encapsulants, embedments, or potting materials used with modular assemblies (designated as reparable) containing integrated c

29、ircuits and discrete parts shall be easily removable without damage to the assembly. 3.2.3 Modules. The electronic portions of the equipment shall be functionally modularized in accordance with MIL-STO-2084 when practicable. When previously produced models of this equipment do not incorporate MIL-ST

30、D-2084, the design shall not be changed to incorporate MIL-STO-2084 5 - without the approval of the procuring activity (see 6.2.2). 3.2.4 Fasteners. Fasteners shall conform to MIL-STD-454, Requirement 12. Screws used to attach the equipment to the aircraft shall be 3/16 inch diameter or larger unles

31、s specified otherwise herein. Mounting provisions shall be designed so that no mounting screw threads are in bearing. heat treated above 180,000 psi shall be ion vapor deposited, aluminum coated or vacuum cadmium plated. Fasteners requiring the use of tools other than Alloy steel bolts standard Navy

32、 issue hand tools shall not be used in the equipment. The equipment and parts thereof shall be finished in accordance with MIL-E-5400

33、 except after pretreating the surface of cases, boxes, a minimum of une coat of corrosion inhibiting primer shall be applied to aluminum and non-corrosion resistant steel surfaces. In addition, the exterior surfaces of cases, boxes, except for electrical bonding surfaces, shall be pained with a mnim

34、um of two coats of enamel , No lacquer shall be used. The INS WRAs shall be Gold, Color No. 17043, in accordance with I FED-STD-595 3,2.5.1 Dissimilar metals. Unless protected against electrolytic corrosion by means of a protective coating, intimate contact of dissimilar metals shall be avoided. Pro

35、tection of dissimilar metal combinations shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-454, Requirement 16, 3,2.5,3 Parts terminating processes. The contractor developed terminating I processes used in the modification or repair of single, double-sided, or multilayered printed circuit boards (PCBs) shall be a

36、t least equal to comparable processes specified in MIL-E-5400. 3.3 Design and construction. Design and construction of the equipment shall conform with MIL-E-5400, except as otherwise specified herein, and shall be such that the equipment shall meet all the requirements of this specification, with s

37、pecial effort to assure inherent reliability, so that the equipment will consistently and repeatedly perform as specified, 3,3.1 Dimensional limitations, Unit site(s), mounting and other construction features shall conform to the envelope shown on figure 1. The construction features (nameplate, mete

38、rs, handles, connectors, built-in test failure indicator) chal 1 be coordinated with the procuring activity. a, Unit cases. Except for controls, displays, all units shall be contained in cases meeting requirement of the envelope shown on figure 1. Unit case design shall incorporate the human enginee

39、ring design criteria specified in MIL-STD-1472. b. The cooling air exhaust shall be on the front of the INU (outboard), 3.3.2 Total wei ht. The equipment shall be designed to achieve the minimum feasib -I-%- e weig t consistent with the total requirements as stated herein; however, the weight of the

40、 equipment shall be not greater than 36 pounds (16.33 kilograms), 3.3.3 Reliability. 3.3.31 Operational stability. The equipment shall operate as required continuously or intermittently for a period of not less than 700 hours without the necessity for readjustment of any control other than that requ

41、ired to initiate an equipment recalibration sequence. Successful completion of the testing herein shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility for compliance o

45、f production units with the specified re1 iabil ity and performance requirements during any subsequent testing or service usage within the limitations specified herein. The equipment shall provide 3.3.4 Time totalizing meter. The equipment shall include a digital, nonresetting 9999 hour time totaliz

46、inq meter conforminq to the amlicable requirementi of MIL-M-7793 and MIL-STD-1472 which will-indicate unit “ON“ time. (“ON“ time is defined as any operating mode, including BIT.) practicable, the meter shall be located so that it may be easily read with the unit normally mounted in the aircraf witho

47、ut removing a cover from the unit. Where 3.3.4 Cabling and connections. 3.3.4.1 Cables and connectors. The equipment shall provide for the use of external connectors in accordance with MIL-E-5400. Where possible, al 1 cable connectors shall be electrically bonded in accordance with MIL-B-5087. 3.3.4

48、.2 Interconnecting cab1 ing. The equipment shall be capable of specified operation using external wiring in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-W-5088. The external cables shall be unshielded, except that a minimum number of the individual wires may be shielded when demonstrated as ne

49、cessary to meet interference control requirements, and provided that the assembly of the cable to its plugs may be easily accomplished, External cables and that portion of the connectors attached to the cables shall not be supplied as part of the equipment. 3.3.4.3 Internal wiring.
