SCOPE. 1.1 Scope.

2、 This specification establishes the requirements for manu- facture and acceptance of the MARK 38 MOD 2 Fuze Booster, referred to herein as the booster. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS. 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications and standards. Unless otherwise specified, the following specifications and

3、standards of the issue listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DoDISS) specified in the solicitation, form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. 16、 of a conflict be-tween t.he text of this specification and the references cited herein, t.he Lext. of this specification shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Item description. The booster initiates the warhead of a guided missile and is composed of the components shown on liqure 1. The boost

17、er pellet contains approximately 44 grams of Comiosi t.ion (31-6 explosive. 3.1.1 Government-furnished property. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the Government will furnish the con- tractor with the following in the quantity specified (see 6.2.3): a. b. C. d. Compositio

20、cteristics. 3.2.1 Function and otput. The booster shall function when initiated in accordance with 4.6.1 and the output shall meet the acceptance cri- teria specified in 4.6.1.3. 3.2.2 Environmental conditions. The booster shall not be damaged nor shall safety or subsequent performance be degraded b

21、y exposure to the following environments. 3.2.2.1 Transportation vibration-temperature. After exposure to the environmentof 4.6.2.1, the booster shall be safe (see 6.3) and, when initiated in accordance with 4.6.1, shall function and produce the proper output (see 3.2.1). 3.2.2.2 Temperature - and h

22、umidity. After exposure to the environ- ment of 4.6.2.2, the booster shall be safe (see 6.3) and, when initiated in accordance with 4.6.1 , shall function and produce the proper output (see 3.2.1). 3.2.2.3 Cgtive carry and missile flight vibration. After exposure to the environhentof4.6.2.3, the boo

23、ster shall be safe (see 6.3) and. when initiated in accordance with 4.6.1, shall function and produce the proper output (see 3.2.1). 3.2.3 Environmental safety, _-_ 3.2.3.1 Forty-foot drop. During exposure to the environment of 4.6.3.1, the booster shall not explode nor burn. booster shall be safe (

24、see 6.3) to handle and dispose of. booster shall be safe (see 6.3) to store, handle, and transport. After exposure, the 3.2.3.2 - Jolt. - After exposure to the environment of 4.6.3.2, the 3.2.3.3 Cook-off. During and after exposure to the environment of 4.6.3.3 , the booster shall not detonate. Any

25、booster reaction (defla- gration, burning, etc. ) , other than detonation , is acceptable and may occur at any time. 3.3 Mechanical characteristics 3.3.1 Radiographic. When radiographically inspected, the booster shall show no internal evidence of cracks, fissures, loose powder, or any foreign mater

When visually inspected , the booster shall show no external evid

27、ence of cracks, burrs, dents, loose powder, or other deformities which may interfere with functioning or fit at the next assembly (see 4.6.5). 3.4 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.4 and 6.2.4). 3.5 Design

28、and construction. 3.5.1 Production drawings. The booster shall meet. the requirements of and be manufactured and assembled in accordance wit.h the dr;iwings and documents listed on Drawing 917AS3163. 3.5.2 Standards of manufacture. 3.5.2.1 Safety precautions. As a minimum, the safety precautions of

29、DoD 4145.26M shall apply during manufacture , handling , and inspection of the booster, but shall not be considered an adequate suhstit.ution for the contractors own safety procedures developed to accommoda te the hazards associated with the booster, 3.5.2.2 Working environment. The working environm

30、ent shall meet the minimum levels and requirements of MIL-STD-1695 Test plan and test procedures. 3.5.2.3 When specified in t.he contract or purchase order, a test plan and test procedures shall be prepared by the contractor in accordance with MIL-T-18303 and the Data item Descrip- tion (DID) cited

31、in 6.2.2. The test plan and test procedures shall be accepted by the Government prior to use. 3.5.2.4 Inspection record. When specified in the contract or purchase order, an inspection record shall be prepared and filled in by the con- tractor in accordance with the DID cited in 6.2.2 for each boost

32、er pro- duced under a specified contract. The required test data shall be extracted from the inspection and acceptance records maintained by the contractor. 3.5.2.5 Workmanship. Workmanship during manufacture of the booster shall meet the requirements of MIL-A-2550. 6 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo

Unless otherwise Specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the per- formance of all inspec

34、tion requirements specified herein (see 6.2. l). Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the per- formance of the inspection requirements specified herein I unless dis- approved hy the Government (see 6.2.1)

The Government reserves the right to perform or witness any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1 . 1 Classification -_ of inspections. Inspection requirements spec

36、ified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspections (see 4.4). b . Quality conformance inspections (see 4.5). 4.2 Tesi. - equipment. All test equipment utilized by the contractor or performance ofthe inspections specified herein shall be calibrated and maintained in accordance with

37、MIL-STD-45662. 4.2. i Standard test equipment. The contractor shall provide and main tain inspection and test equipment of sufficient quality and quantity to permit the performance of the required tests and measurements, under the conditions and to the accuracies specified herein. Unless otherwise s

38、pecified herein, the magnitude of any error introduced by the test equipment shall not exceed 10 percent of the allowable tolerance of the requirement being measured. All test equipment shall be calibrated and maintained as specified in 4.2. 4.2.2 Special test equipment and circuits. When special te

39、st equip- ment and circuits, other than as specified herein, are devised or commercially -available equipment is employed, all test equipment, circuits, and methods shall meet the requirements of 4.2.1 and are subject to approval by the procuring activity, 4.2.3 Gages. The contractor shall provide w

40、hatever gages are neces- sary to ensure conformance with the dimensional requirements of this specification and the applicable drawings. When specified in the con- tract or purchase order, the procuring activity will furnish drawings of pertinent Government final inspection gages (see 6.2.1). This p

41、rocedure does not relieve the contractor of his responsibility for the design and manufacture of the gages required for satisfactory fulfillment of the con- tract requirements, but is intended to facilitate acceptance of ail com- ponents and assemblies by Government final acceptance gages. 7 .- Prov

Unless otherwise specified herein , the inspec- tion methods of 4,6 shall be performed under the conditions specified in 3.5.2.2. 4.4 Fi

43、rst article inspections. When specified in the contract or pur- chase order, first article inspections shall be performed by the con- tractor, after award of contract and prior to production, at a location acceptable to the Government (see 6.2.4). First article inspections shall be performed on 30 s

44、ample boosters which have been produced with equip- ment and procedures to be used in production. First article approval is valid only on the contract under which it is granted, unless extended by the Government to other contracts. of the first article shall be at the risk of the contractor. Any pro

45、duction prior to approval 4.4.1 First article inspection sequence. The first article of 30 boosters shall be subjected to the inspections of Figure 2 in the sequence shown. After tests, the boosters shall be disposed of at the discretion of the cognizant demolition officer. 4.4.2 First article accep

46、tance and rejection criteria. Each first article booster shall meet all the requirements specified in the contract or purchase order, on the drawings, and herein. of Figure 2, the applicable performance requirements of Section 3 shall be met on the first and only trial; one or more failures shall be

47、 cause for refusal to grant first article approval. 4.5 Quality conformance inspections. For the inspections . 4.5.1 Inspection lot. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, an inspection lot shall contain not less than 500 nor more than 1,000 boosters (see 6.2.1). An inspection

48、 lot shall consist of completed boosters fabricated under the same conditions and of- fered for acceptance inspection at the same time. 4.5.2 Inspection lot inspection sequence. After the inspection lot has been formed and identified by lot number, the lot shall be subiected to the inspections of Fi

49、gure 3 n the sequence shown. Where specified during the inspection sequence, a quantity of boosters shall be ran- domly sampled from the inspection lot in accordance with MIL-STD-414 , Inspection Level LV, Standard Deviation Method , Variability Unknown. While the sample continues through the inspection sequence, the remainder of the lot shall be held in bond pending acceptance of the sample, If the sa
