2、COPE This specification covers the requirements for material, mechanical properties, heat treatment, induction hardening, quality, cleanliness, repair welding, and protective coatings for two optional types of construction (Class 1 and 2). See General Information for further description of method of

5、 for thin wall housings requiring heat treatment (Class lA), shall be capable of meeting the applicable mechanical properties listed in Table 1. All steels shall be killed, of fine grain (5 or finer) practice, unless otherwise specified herein or approved by Truck Development and Technology Center,
6、with a max sulfur and phosphorus content of 0.050% and 0.040%, respectively. 10、 wall version of this class, has no specific requirements for mechanical properties. * Mechanical properties are waived for spindle ends of Class 2 (A and B) housings. Note 2: Class 2 is divided into two sub-classes, A and B, depending upon the grade of steel selected by the housing manufacturer. 4.
11、3 Induction Hardening; (all classes) After machining, the axle housing assembly shall be induction hardened, Class 60 (Rc 40) Rc 45 min, per CEMS A-41. Tempering after induction hardening is optional. 4.3.1 Hardening Pattern: The minimum hardening pattern shall include the fillet radius as indicated
12、 by the solid line in Figure 1. The preferred pattern includes the additional area indicated by the dashed line. Case depth shall be measured at point X.
