ITU-T J.204 (06/2008) FOREWORD The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency in the field of telecommunicat
4、ions, information and communication technologies (ICTs). The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of ITU. ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunicatio
5、ns on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T study groups which, in turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of ITU-T Recommendations is covered by the procedure la
6、id down in WTSA Resolution 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with ISO and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunic
7、ation administration and a recognized operating agency. Compliance with this Recommendation is voluntary. However, the Recommendation may contain certain mandatory provisions (to ensure e.g. interoperability or applicability) and compliance with the Recommendation is achieved when all of these manda
8、tory provisions are met. The words “shall“ or some other obligatory language such as “must“ and the negative equivalents are used to express requirements. The use of such words does not suggest that compliance with the Recommendation is required of any party. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS ITU draws a
9、ttention to the possibility that the practice or implementation of this Recommendation may involve the use of a claimed Intellectual Property Right. ITU takes no position concerning the evidence, validity or applicability of claimed Intellectual Property Rights, whether asserted by ITU members or ot
10、hers outside of the Recommendation development process. As of the date of approval of this Recommendation, ITU had not received notice of intellectual property, protected by patents, which may be required to implement this Recommendation. However, implementers are cautioned that this may not represe

15、 gathering specification 1 Scope This Recommendation defines a data format and transmission protocol for the collection of service delivery metrics on customer premises equipment, such as digital cable set top boxes. Metrics are records generated by relevant service delivery events, such as a servic
16、e selection event. Each metrics record includes a timestamp of the event. This technology provides a means to accurately and efficiently collect metrics for the purpose of measuring service delivery. NOTE The structure and content of this Recommendation have been organized for ease of use by those f
17、amiliar with the original source material; as such, the usual style of ITU-T Recommendations has not been applied. 1.1 Introduction and Purpose The purpose of this Recommendation is to specify metrics collection and transmission mechanisms and interfaces on receiver platforms. The data formats and t
18、ransmission protocols may also be adopted by proprietary systems. For the purposes of this Recommendation, the term “metrics“ refers to specific data, defined herein, that is generated by a receiver and transmitted to a cable headend. Metrics, as defined in this Recommendation, are intended to compl
19、ement other measurement systems that may be employed by cable operators. 2 References 2.1 Normative References The following ITU-T Recommendations and other references contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Recommendation. At the time of publication,
