SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description covers sliding T-bevels, used

2、by machinists andcarpenters for measuring and transferring angles in layout work.2. CLASSIFICATION. The sliding T- bevels shall conform to the following types2.1 ljg. Wood handle.2.2 . PIastic handle3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Desi.m. The bevel shall consist of a blade and handle with a locking d

3、evice to hold the blade in anya71position relative to the handle.3.1.1 Twe I, handle. Handles shall be made of straight grained, hardwood, with a smooth finish, andtreated to prevent absorption of moisture. Handles shall be bound at each end by metal tips, which aresecurely fastened to the handle. T

4、he handles shall measure 5-9/16 inches (+/-1/8 inch) in length, 1 inch(+/-1/8 inch) in width, and 23/32 inch (+/-1/16 inch) thick.3.1.2 Tvpe 11.handle. Handles shall be made of rugged, one-piece plastic. The handles shall measure 5-9/1 6 inches (+/-1/8 inch) in length, 1 inch (+/-1/8 inch) in width,

Bladesshall measure 8 inches (+/- 1/4 inch)

7、 in length, 1 inch (+/- 1/16 inch) in width, and .050 inch (+/- .005inch) thick. When tested blades shall have a minimum hardness of 90 on the Rockwell B scale inaccordance with ASTM E 18.3.1,4 Locking device. The T-bevel shall include a bolt and wing nut, thumbnut, or cam lock to hold theblade in a

8、ny desired position.3.2 Identification markin, The tool shall be marked with the manufacturers name or identifying symboland the state or country of manufacture, unless otherwise specified. All identification markings shall beetched, engraved, molded, or indented directly on the items surface in suc

9、h a manner that it remainsclearly legible throughout the life of the item;3.3 Workmanship. Details of workmanship shall be in accordance with the best commercial practices.Paints, coatings, plating, and finishes shall be smooth, adherent, continuous and not stained or discolored.External surfaces sh

10、all be free of tool and gouge marks, nicks, or other surface imperfections. The itemshall be free from manufacturing workmanship defects (e.g. sharp or rough external edges, comers, orsurfaces) and material workmanship defects (e.g. pits, rips, tins, burrs, tears, nodules, cracks, or blisters),which

11、 may adversely impact the items serviceability, durability, safety, or appearance4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Recovered materials. The supplier/mamrfacturer is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Reg

12、ulation(FAR).4.2 Metric uroducts. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basiswith those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided the y fall within the tolerances specified (usingconversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376) and a

13、ll other requirements ofthis document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceedthe tolerances specified in the inch- pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer todetermine if the product is acceptable.5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.5.1 Produ

14、ct Confomace. Theproducts provided shall meetthe sdientchmactenstics of thisCommercial Item Description, conform to the suppliers own drawings, specifications, standards andquality assurance practices, and the same product and offered for sale in the commercial market. Thegovernment reserves the rig

15、ht to require proof of such conformance.5.2 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the supplier is responsible for theperformance of all inspection requirements and may use any commercial facilities (inch.rding thesuppliers own facilities) suitable for performance of the inspecti

16、on requirements, unless disapproved bythe Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any inspections deemed necessary toassure the item conforms to the specified requirements.6. PACKAGING. Requirements of preservation, packing, packaging, and marking of packages shall beas specified in
