SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a non asbestos gasket facing material laminated on to a perforated low carbon steel core. 2. APPLICATION This spe
3、cification was released originally for material requiring high compressive strength and high temperature resistance such as exhaust manifold gasket(s). 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. Note: All tests shall be conducted in acc
4、ordance with ASTM F 104 Type 1 material unless otherwise specified. The requirements of this specification are valid for gasket material of 1.02 to 1.22 mm thickness. Test specimens are to be selected from finished gaskets when practicable. Prior to testing the materials shall be conditioned in an o
5、ven at 100 +/-2 C for 1 hour and allowed to cool to 21 to 30 C in a desiccator containing anhydrous calcium chloride. 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS
6、 IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions.
7、3.3 CONSTRUCTION The composite material consists of a quality grade of graphited non-asbestos/binder material secured to one side of pierced, tin plated, low carbon steel.
