After inquiries and votes carried out in accordance with the rules of this Association, this standard has successively received the approval of

14、 the National Associations and the Official Services of the member countries of AECMA, prior to its presentation to CEN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 1996, and confictin

15、g national standards shall be withdrawn at the lastest by January 1996. 17、e This standard specifies the dimensions and fit selection of tight fitting spigots for locating casings and other major components for aerospace applications. 2 Design The flanges shall be sufficiently flexible to accomodate the tight fitting spigot, together with differential strain when present,

18、without permanent distortion. Three or more equally spaced jacking screw locations, or other features, shall be provided so that the flanges can readily be dismantled. Where jacking screws are to be used to bear onto light alloy faces, protection for the light alloy shall be provided to avoid damage

19、. Two forms of spigot joints are shown in figures 1 and 2 : external and internal. Advantages for the external spigot : - it prevents lever being used to separate ; - it stiffens the flange at the periphery ; - it can reduce the pitch circle diameter of the bolts thus improving the “heeling“ factor.

20、 Advantages for internal spigot : - it is less likely to be shop damaged and can be more easily protected ; - under pressure the use of an interference fit (see table 1) maintains a better seal ; - the flanges may be scalloped and are therefore lighter.
