This commercial item description (CID) covers sheet-steel junction boxes, junctionbox extensions, and junction box covers for use with rigid metallic, intermediate metallic co

4、nduit,electrical metallic tubing, flexible metallic conduit, armored cable, nonmetallic sheathed cable, andnonmetallic tubing. It does not cover nonmetallic junction boxes, cast metal boxes, conduitbodies, or hinged covered boxes.2. CLASSIFICATION. Junction boxes, extensions, and covers covered by t

5、his commercial itemdescription are of the following type as specified (see 7.2):Type I - Octagon junction box.Type II - Square junction box.Type III - Junction box.Type IV - Device box, sectional type (gangable).Type V - Octagon junction box extension ring.Type VI - Square junction box extension rin

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Description . The junction boxes, extensions, and covers specif

7、ied in this commercial itemdescription shall be constructed of steel, coated with corrosion-resistant finish, as specified (see7.2). Styles and sizes shall conform to table I and as specified (see 7.2). All bolts and screwsshall have standard screw threads. Knockouts shall be provided (see table I).

8、 Where applicable,location of knockouts shall be in accordance with standards of NEMA OS-1.3.2 Standard commercial product . The junction boxes, extensions, and covers shall, as aminimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this commercial item description and shall bethe manufacturers standar

9、d commercial product. Additional or better features which are notspecifically prohibited by this commercial item description but which are a part of themanufacturers standard commercial product, shall be included in the junction boxes, extensions,and covers being furnished. A standard commercial pro

10、duct is a product which has been sold oris being currently offered for sale on the commercial market through advertisements ormanufacturers catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.4.1 Materials . The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recove

11、red materials to the maximumextent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR). Unless otherwise specified herein, all equipment, material, and articles incorporated in thework covered by this commercial item description are to be new and fabricated us

12、ing materialsproduced from recovered materials to the maximum extent possible without jeopardizing theintended use. The term “recovered materials” means materials which have been collected orrecovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed tovirgin raw mater

13、ials. Unless otherwise specified, none of the above shall be interpreted to meanthat the use of used or rebuilt products are allowed under this commercial item description.4.2 Metric products . Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equalbasis with those manufactured usi

14、ng inch-pound units, provided they fall within specifiedtolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest version of ASTM SI-10(IEEE/ASTM SI-10), and all other requirements of this commercial item description includingform, fit and function are met. If a product is manufactured to metric di

15、mensions and thesedimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made tothe contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has theoption of accepting or rejecting the product.5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.5.1 Product

The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of thiscommercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards,and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercialmarket.
