National foreword This document (EN ISO 2553:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 44 “Welding and allied processes” in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 “Welding and allied

5、 processes” (Secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Schweien und verwandte Verfahren (Welding and Allied Processes Standards Committee), Working Committee NA 092-00-06 AA Darstellung und Begriffe (DVS AG I 4). General During the ex

6、tensive revision of this standard, it was ensured that the positive experience gained with the previous versions was maintained. For example, the suggestion that all weld symbols be left out was not taken up. By including specifications for the symbolic representation system based on a dual referenc

7、e line, as is common in Europe, as well as for the system using a single reference line commonly used in Pacific Rim countries, it was possible to create a standard that will be truly globally accepted. Participants in the development of this standard are well aware that this is a compromise and wil

8、l continue to aim towards a uniform, harmonized system. It is important that the symbols previously used to represent the weld and weld type be maintained. It is still possible to indicate the location and, for example, thickness of the weld without this information if more detailed information is n

9、ot necessary. The principle remains that symbols as in this standard are only to be used when this type of representation is unambiguous. Otherwise, welds are to be represented using generally accepted rules of technical drawing. Users of this standard should take note of the following: After Intern

10、ational Standard ISO 2553 was published in English by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) in December 2013, the European standards body, CEN, approved it for adoption, unchanged, as a European Standard. DIN is thus obliged to adopt this European Standard as a German national “DIN EN

11、 ISO” standard, despite the fact that numerous editorial corrections are necessary. A decision at international level as to whether the correction of these errors will lead to a new revision of the standard will not be made until the first half of 2014. If a decision is made to revise the standard,

12、it is expected that a new edition of DIN EN ISO 2553 will be published at the beginning of 2015. The decision of the responsible ISO body, ISO/TC 44/SC 7 “Representation and terms”, will be announced on the website of DINs Welding and Allied Processes Standards Committee (NAS)1). IntroductionThe symbols given in this standard can be used on technical drawings for welded components. Design-related specifications, such as type,

46、 thickness, and length of weld, weld quality, surface treatment, filler material and testing specifications, can be indicated directly at the weld by means of the symbols given in this standard. The principals of this standard can be applied to brazed and soldered joints.Clarity may be improved by r

47、eferences to collective information in the drawings or references to additional design-related documents.Preparation for production may require detailed welding-related planning. The type of representation described in this standard can be used for this purpose and complemented by additional product
