Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers threaded Schedule80 PVC pipe fittings, made from four PVC plastic compoundsand intended for use with threaded Iron Pipe Size (IPS)outside-dia

17、meter plastic pipe.4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings, unions, bushings,caps, nipples, etc., shall be molded or machined from extrudedstock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by back welding or butt fusion arenot included in this specification

18、.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This specification covers PVC pipe fittings made fromtwo PVC plastics as classified in Specification D1784. Theseare cell classifications 12454 and 14333.NOTE 3Mechanical strength, heat deflection temperature, and flam-mability requirements are covered in Specificati

19、on D1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 The dimensions and tolerances of the fittings shall beas shown in Ta

20、ble 1 and Table 2 when measured in accordancewith Test Method D2122. Minimum dimensions have zeronegative tolerances. Bushings shall have thread lengths appli-cable to the corresponding sizes. Counterbore is optional, is notshown in Table 1, and is not included in the center-to-end orend-to-end dime

21、nsions.6.1.2 Fittings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illus-trated in Table 1 and Table 2 or not, shall have wall thicknessesand thread dimensions conforming to 6.1 and 6.2.6.2 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F1498 and be gaged inaccordan

22、ce with 8.4.6.3 Burst Pressure:6.3.1 The burst strength of the fittings shall be not less thanthat calculated for the size and wall thickness of the pipe withwhich it is to be used, when calculated from the followingequation:S 5 PDOt!/2t (1)where:S = hoop stress, psi (or MPa),P = internal pressure,

(or mm).Fittings tested in accordance with 8.4 shall withstand theminimum burst pressure shown in Table 3.6.3.2 Pressures shown are minimum burst pressures and donot imply rated working pressures. The burst pr

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous throughout and freeof cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. Test Methods8.1 Conditioni

31、ngCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the Standard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73 6 3.6

32、F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-ods or in this specification.8.3 SamplingA sufficient quantity of fittings as agreedupon between the seller and the purchaser shall be selected atrandom from each lot or shipment and tested to determine thatthe bas

33、ic design is in conformance with this specification.NOTE 4For individual orders or specifications where supplementaltests are required, only those tests and numbers of tests specifically agreedupon between purchaser and supplier need be conducted.8.4 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressur

34、ewith at least five specimens in accordance with Test MethodD1599. Join the fittings to the pipe sufficiently strong and insuch a manner that no failures shall occur in the assembly at apressure less than the pressure requirement given in Table 3.The time of testing each assembly shall be between 60

35、 and 70s.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the test(s) shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed or modified, nor shall s

36、pecification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the requirements of thisspecification.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that they remain legible under
