For my part, I think building up new campuses in the suburbs is favorable to our college students study. In the first place, new campuses in the
10、 suburbs separate us from the noisy and filthy outside world so that we can better concentrate on our daily study. Id like to take my own experience as an example. During the first year of my college life, we all lived in the downtown campus. At the very beginning we felt excited and happy about the
11、 myriad life of the metropolis. But gradually we realized that the downtown could only subject us to serious air and noise pollution. Whats worse, there were too many distractions off campus which made it difficult to focus our attention on study. After our new campus was constructed, we moved to th
12、e suburbs, where we tasted a totally different atmosphere. Since our new campus is only surrounded by fields and mountains, bit by bit we get used to the stillness of this new campus and find it much easier to concentrate on study. In the second place, building new campuses can solve the problem of
13、low per capita share of learning resources, which creates a better learning environment for students. The capacity of a campus is limited. With the expanding enrollment of universities, our campuses are becoming more and more crowded. As a result, each students per capita share of learning resources
14、 becomes relatively low. Fortunately, building new campuses can solve this problem to some extent. The suburb offers universities larger areas for infrastructure construction, so the responsibility of providing learning and teaching resources which was once shouldered by one campus can now be shared
15、 by two or more campuses. This guarantees that each student can enjoy adequate learning and teaching resources in a better learning environment. Lastly, building new campuses facilitates the communication among students in different majors. Because of a lack of entertainment, students from different

In this way, students enthusiasm in study may be aroused, which is beneficial to both the college and the students. All in all, constructing new campuses in the suburbs not only is necessary to

20、rches whereas therere few majors for practical skills that most students will need for their future work. Too many impractical majors may lead to oversupply and it is difficult for graduates to survive for their lack of practical skills. The problem is caused by the over-expansion of enrollment and
21、the backward course systems which no longer suit the new situation and employment market. Professors in universities are usually the pure educators with no practical working skills, thus it is impossible for them to share with their students any useful working experience. In this case, there should
22、be more majors with the practical emphasis. On the other hand, it is the unique feature of university study that theories and presumptions are researched on an in-depth level. The theoretical and basic majors are crucial for the development of science and technology. Although most of these courses a
23、re boring and time-consuming, some achievements can only be made through painstaking research over quite a long period. Therefore, the theoretical majors still have practical significance for the development of economy and society. All in all, majors in universities should be reformed, but the pract
24、icality should not be the only purpose. The theoretical and practical majors should be arranged in a reasonable proportion, and practical courses should be brought in by inviting experienced people as professional teachers. At the same time, more importance should be attached to the construction of
