It was very intellectually stimula
4、ting and opened my mind to disciplines which I hadnt formally pursued before like organizational behavior, marketing and statistical analysis. I just found that interesting from a purely learning perspective. I believe that postgraduate qualifications definitely boost a persons employment and earnin
5、gs potential. Increasingly, postgrad qualifications are becoming mandatory for most C-level (corporate title) and Director-level positions in major companies. If you dont have the qualification, its harder to get the job, and therefore harder to earn that higher salary. I am mindful of candidates po
6、stgrad credentials when recruiting for my own company. “We place a lot of emphasis on postgrad qualifications, especially for more senior leadership roles. I chose to do postgraduate studies primarily because I knew UTS has strong links to the industry, in particular the ABC. During my postgrad studies I put my head down and work

Parcells: Continuing education is clearly important, but the value of a masters degree depends on what you do with it. A masters degree in digital marketin

While you can clearly learn about these subjects out of the classroom, practical knowledge and studying these principals are the foundation for success. But the focus must also be on what you do during your program, such as taking on valuable
10、 internships, connecting with executives, and sharpening your skills. It shows employ
11、ers that youve been trained to think critically. Beyond this, higher grades or more education simply become a bonus to an employers main consideration work experience. Experience trumps education because employers dont want to pay for time to train new hires on the job, especially if they can hire s
12、omeone who can hit the ground running. So having a college or university education plus work experience for example, will put you ahead of competing students who have excellent grades with less work experience even for entry-level positions. When employers vet resumes, they look at work experience f
13、irst, and education second. As a student, your ideal option is to study to get the best grades you can while working, so you can get some experience under your belt too. Eaststar (China) Neither the British nor the Chinese education system is perfect. They can learn from each othe
16、r to produce disciplined, respectful, well-educated and yet self-motivated, socially competent, creative and socially responsible students. In my course of primary and secondary schooling, I had the privilege of experiencing both systems. In my opinion, the Chinese system is excellent in learning th
17、e academic fundamentals, but not so much beyond that. Ted (the UK) Students in China are raised to study for long hours, with great expectations and demands. Yet they have little social life and there is no encouragement for an enjoyment of lifelong learning. In the West, students are taught to enjo
18、y learning, questioning and using initiative with active learning and problem-solving. They have a broad and balanced education to include social learning, but the downside is difficulties with behavior, most evident in the teenage years. The best of both systems is perhaps what is needed. Leonard (
19、Singapore) The Chinese education requires rote learning. It seems boring but it trains the mind to focus on what is important and develop concentration and good study habits. These habits benefit them even at a later age. More could be done to encourage children to express opinions about the things
20、they encounter. Michael (the US) My overall opinion is that the West can learn a lot from China in education. My personal belief is that the biggest benefits of Chinese secondary education are: 1. Longer hours at school. 2. Competitiveness. This is more important in China because there are so many j
21、ob seekers looking for employment in a highly competitive job market. 3. Higher expectations and demands upon students. 4. More lecture-based lessons. This is great preparation for college. Effective note-taking is essential for college. 5. Team building. This too creates an intellectual environment
22、 where synergy is created in addition to developing personal attributes such as tolerance, cooperation and harmony. Tal (China) If I had a child, I think Id consider Chinese education for part of his learning. I think that perhaps the middle school years are a good time for him to develop strong fun
23、damental skills in math, reading, memory retention, etc. , that the Chinese system teaches well. But in the more formative primary and high school years, Id opt for an international school in China offering the international business or something similar. Children need the freedom to explore, expres
24、s, inquire and understand. These are things that the Chinese system simply does not offer to anywhere near the same degree. In my view, the chief weakness in Chinas system is the lack of room for creativity and individuality among students. Students do not become good learners; they merely become go
