Scope*1.1 This specification2covers austenit
3、ic steel castings forvalves, flanges, fittings, and other pressure-containing parts(Note 1).NOTE 1Carbon steel castings for pressure-containing parts are cov-ered by Specification A216/A216M, low-alloy steel castings by Specifi-cation A217/A217M, and duplex stainless steel castings by SpecificationA
4、995/A995M.1.2 A number of grades of austenitic steel castings areincluded in this specification. Since these grades possessvarying degrees of suitability for service at high temperaturesor in corrosive environments, it is the responsibility of thepurchaser to determine which grade shall be furnished

Selec-tion will depend on design and service conditions, mechanicalproperties, and high-temperature or corrosion-resistantcharacteristics, or both.1.2.1 Because of thermal instability, Grades CE20N, CF3A,CF3MA, and CF8A are not recommended for service attemperatures above 800F 425C.1.3 Supplementa
6、ry requirements of an optional nature areprovided for use at the option of the purchaser. The Supple-mentary requirements shall apply only when specified indi-vidually by the purchaser in the purchase order or contract.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded se
7、parately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.4.1 This specification is expressed in both inch-poundunits and in
8、 SI units; however, unless the purchase order orcontract specifies the applicable M specification designation(SI units), the inch-pound units shall apply. 12、furnished tothis specification shall conform to the requirements of Speci-fication A703/A703M, including any supplementary require-ments that are indicated in the purchase order. Failure tocomply with the general requirements of Specification A703/A703M constitutes nonconformance with this specifica

Incase of conflict between the requirements of this specificationand Specification A703/A703M, this specification shall pre-vail.3.2 Investment Castings Material furnished to this speci-fication shall conform to the requirements of SpecificationA985/A985M, including any supplementary requireme
14、nts thatare indicated in the purchase order. 19、5C are to be subjected tosevere corrosive service.4. Ordering Information4.1 The inquiry and order should include or indicate thefollowing:4.1.1 A description of the casting by pattern number ordrawing (dimensional tolerances shall be included on thecasting drawing),4.1.2 Grade of steel,4.1.3 Option
20、s in the specification, and4.1.4 Supplementary requirements desired, including thestandards of acceptance.5. Process5.1 The steel shall be made by the electric furnace processwith or without separate refining such as argon-oxygen decar-burization (AOD).6. Heat Treatment6.1 All castings shall receive
21、 a heat treatment at the tem-perature specified in Table 1, followed by a quench in water orrapid cool by other means except as noted.NOTE 2Proper heat treatment of these alloys is usually necessary toenhance corrosion resistance and in some cases to meet mechanicalproperties. Minimum heat-treat tem
22、peratures are specified; however, it issometimes necessary to heat-treat at higher temperatures, hold for someminimum time at temperature, and then rapidly cool the castings in orderto enhance the corrosion resistance and meet mechanical properties.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The steel shall conform
23、to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in Table 2.8. Tensile Properties8.1 Steel used for the castings shall conform to the require-ments as to tensile properties prescribed in Table 3.9. Quality9.1 The surface of the casting shall be examined visuallyand shall be free of adhering
24、sand, scale, cracks, and hot tears.Other surface discontinuities shall meet the visual acceptancestandards specified in the order. Visual Method SP-55 or othervisual standards may be used to define acceptable surfacediscontinuities and finish. Unacceptable visual surface discon-tinuities shall be re
