19、ant 3.2 HDPE high density polyethylene 3.3 nominal subject to the normal tolerances acceptable to good manufacturing practice 4 Requirements 4.1 General 4.1.1 Wool packs shall be nylon or HDPE, as required (see annex A). 4.1.2 Nylon wool packs (see 5.4) shall be woven from undyed or white high tenac

20、ity nylon 6 or 6.6 yarn (determined in accordance with AATCC test method 20-2007 or chemical analysis); both the warp and weft yarns shall be of the same type of nylon, and be woven from multifilament yarn that has similar dying characteristics to wool and each individual filament shall have a linea

21、r density not greater than 10 decitex (determined in accordance with SANS 7211-5). 4.1.3 HDPE wool packs (see 5.4) shall be woven from dyed (see 4.3) high density polyethylene tapes (determined in accordance with AATCC test method 20-2007 or chemical analysis). 4.1.4 The wool pack fabric shall have

22、a suitable anti-slip coating applied to the inner or outer surface (or both), and have a firm well-constructed selvedge and have no protruding ends or picks. 4.1.5 The finished pack shall not contain any loose remnants of yarn, tape, pack material, sewing thread or any other foreign material which m

23、ay cause contamination of the wool, and comply with the requirements given in table 1. The pack shall be box-shaped (see figure 1) with the top and bottom ends of nominal interna

27、l dimensions (700 mm 10 mm) (700 mm 10 mm) and shall be constructed from three pieces of fabric. One piece shall form the front, bottom, back and top panels and the two other pieces shall form the side panels. All cut edges of the fabric shall be hemmed and the upper 175 mm 25 mm of the side panels

28、shall not be sewn to the front and back panels. The finished length of the front, back and side panels shall be 1 270 mm 25 mm and the length of the top flap, measured from the top of the side panel, shall be not less than 750 mm. 4.3 Colour HDPE packs shall be of a beige or light brown colour incor

29、porating two vertical blue stripes consisting of two warp tapes woven into the fabric, 130 mm from the selvedge. SANS 1860:2008 Edition 1.1 6 Figure 1 Wool pack dimensions 4.4 Stitching 4.4.1 The pack seams and hems shall be sewn with appropriate quality undyed multifilament nylon sewing thread in w

30、hich each individual filament does not exceed 10 decitex. In the case of nylon packs, the type of nylon used for stitching shall be the same type of nylon as that used in the pack (nylon 6 or 6.6). The seam type for top and side seams shall be type Ssa (see SANS 10101), as in figure 2. The hem type

31、shall be as in figure 3. 4.4.2 The ends of the sewing threads shall be cut and permanently heat-sealed to prevent unravelling. Both seams and hems shall be backstitched for at least five stitches to prevent seam runs. After completion of the stitching operation, the length of the heat-sealed loose e

32、nds of sewing threads shall not exceed 20 mm. The cut edges of the pack seam and of the flaps shall be permanently heat-sealed without visible fraying. In addition, the cut edges of the flaps shall be folded twice and hemmed. The minimum stitch density for the hems and seams shall be 10 stitches per

33、 100 mm. The stitch type shall be type 401 of SANS 10101. SANS 1860:2008 Edition 1.1 7 Figure 2 Seam type: Ssa Figure 3 Hem type 5 Inspection and methods of test 5.1 Inspection Visually inspect the specimens to check for compliance with 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4. 5.2 Sampling levels During inspection an

34、d testing, use sampling levels that are established by the responsible laboratory and the manufacturer to ensure a reasonable and acceptable reliability at a reasonable and acceptable confidence level that products certified as being compliant with the standard are, in fact, compliant (see annex B).

35、 For information on quality verification of wool packs for unprocessed wool, see annex C. 5.3 Preparation of test specimens Condition the test specimens in accordance with SANS 70, and then cut the specimens required for the relevant tests given in 5.4 to 5.15 (inclusive). 5.4 Composition Use AATCC

36、test method 20-2007. 5.5 Mass per unit area and total mass Use SANS 79 to determine the mass per unit area of the fabric. Determine the total mass of each bag by means of a calibrated balance. Check for compliance with table 1. 5.6 Weave Determine by visual examination. Check for compliance with tab

37、le 1. 5.7 Number of threads per 10 cm Use SANS 7211-2 and count the ends and picks over a distance of 100 mm. Check for compliance with table 1. SANS 1860:2008 Edition 1.1 8 5.8 Penetration force 5.8.1 Principle This method is used for the determination of the force required to pierce the fabric by

38、means of blunt-rod and ball-shaped probes (see figure 4). A specimen of the fabric is held tightly stretched over the end of a tube by a jubilee clip. The tube is housed in the top cage of a compression fixture attached to the upper moving crosshead of the tester. The bottom cage, which is intercoup

39、led to the top cage, is fixed to the base of the test frame and has a piercing probe suspended from its upper plate. When the crosshead is activated upwards, the stretched material is driven against the piercing probe so that the cell in the moving crosshead signals the load needed to stretch and fi

40、nally pierce the fabric. NOTE See figures 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 for further dimensions. 42、 19 Annex A (normative) Notes to purchasers The following requirements shall be specified in tender invitations and in each order or contract: a) the type of wool pack (nylon or HDPE) (see 4.1.1); and b) additional marking, if required (see 6.3). Annex B (normative) Sampling and compliance with this

43、 standard A predetermined number of bales shall be identified from a consignment batch and one pack from each bale shall be drawn for inspection and testing, in accordance with clause 5. A batch shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of this standard if the average test result does not devi

44、ate more than 5 % (either below the minimum requirement or above the maximum requirement, as appropriate). In the case of subjective ratings, a half grade will apply. 46、 for unprocessed wool When a purchaser requires ongoing verification of the quality of wool packs for unprocessed wool, it is suggested that, instead of concentrating solely on evaluation of the final product, he also direct his attention to the manufacturers quality system.
