SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers a pole-supported pyram

2、idal tent with a fire-resistant treated liner. A cover is provided to protect the tent and liner. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS * 2.1 General. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3). * 3.2 Materials and components. Materials and components shall be as specified herein and in referenced documents. Ma

24、terials not definitely specified shall be of the quality normally used by the manufacturer provided the complete item complies with all provisions of this document. It is encouraged that recycled materials be used when practical as long as it meets the requirements of this document. * 3.2.1 Cloth, w

25、ind- resistant sateen, cotton. The cloth for the tent shall be dyed Camouflage Green 483 and shall conform to MIL-C-12095. * 3.2.2 Cloth, cotton duck. The cloth for the peak reinforcement shall conform to MIL-C-43627 and the color shall be Camouflage Green 483. Requirements for colorfastness to weat

26、hering shall not apply for peak reinforcement. 3.2.3 Cloth, cotton, oxford. The cloth for the liner shall conform to type I, class 2 of MIL-C-10859. 3.2.4 Cloth, netting, nylon. The nylon netting for the ventilator opening shall conform to type I or II of MIL-C-3395. 3.2.5 Shield, stovepipe, tent. T

The tape shall be dyed Camouflage Green 483 and shall conform to type I,

28、 class 4, inch, inch, 1 inch and 2 inch width of MIL- T-43566. Alternatively, the tape shall be polypropylene conforming to type I, class 3 or 4, inch and 2 inch of MIL-W-44049 for covers and liners only. 3.2.7 Webbing, textile, cotton. The webbing shall be dyed Camouflage Green 483 and shall confor

29、m to type IIb, class 4, 1inch width and type III, class 4, 5/8 inch and 1-1/2 inch width of MIL-W-530. Alternatively, the webbing shall be polypropylene conforming to type IIb, 1 inch width, class 4 of MIL-W-44049 for covers. 3.2.8 Thread, polyester. 3.2.8.1 Tent and cover. The thread shall conform

30、to type I, class 1, sub-class B, Camouflage Green 483 of V-T-285. The dyed thread shall show fastness to weathering equal to or better than the standard shade sample. When no standard shade sample is available, the dyed thread shall show good fastness to weathering. 3.2.8.2 Liner. The thread shall b

31、e color natural and shall conform to type I or II, Class 1 of V-T-285. 3.2.8.3 Sizes. Thread sizes shall be as follows: For all stitching on tent - Size F for needle except zig-zag stitching, and bobbin bartacking and stitching indicated by “Z” on drawings For zig-zag stitching and - Size E for need

The tent lines shall conform to class D or class G of MIL-L-17

34、09 in the types specified on the applicable drawings. 3.2.10 Stiffener, cord. The cord for the drip cap stiffener shall conform to type I, class 3, size No. 7 of T-C-571. 3.2.11 Toggle loops. The cord for the toggle loops shall conform to polyester, 1/8 inch diameter, Camouflage Green 483 of MIL-C-

35、43256. 3.2.12 Toggles, wood. The wood toggles shall be of the design and dimensions shown on Drawing 5-4-225. The wood for the toggles shall be straight-grained, sound and smooth lumber, kiln dried to not more than 15 percent moisture content when tested as specified in 4.3.1.1. The toggles shall be

36、 free from knots, shakes, checks, splits, or splintery surface. Any of the following woods may be used: Hickory Beech Pecan Maple, hard Red or White Oak Birch Rock Elm Ash 3.2.13 Toggles, metal. The metal toggles shall be of the design and dimensions shown on Drawing 5-4-223 and shall be fabricated

37、from copper alloy wire conforming to alloy number 270, half hard temper in accordance with ASTM-B134, 159, 159M, 206 and 206M. The toggles shall be given a black chemical finish conforming to MIL-F-495. 3.2.14 Slip, tent line. The tent line slips shall conform to type II of MIL-S-1734. 3.2.15 Fasten

38、ers, slide, interlocking. The slide fasteners shall conform to type III, style I, size H, wire stirrup pulls of V-F-106. Slide fastener chain shall be fabricated of brass or polyester coil. The slider for the brass chain shall be brass and the slider for the polyester coil shall be die cast zinc all

39、oy. The slide fastener tape shall be dyed to match Camouflage Green 483 and be water repellent and mildew-resistant. (Tapes made of 100 percent polyester need not be tested for mildew resistance.) The color of the tape after treatment will be considered acceptable. The tape shall show good fastness

40、to weathering. Alternatively, the slide fastener chain shall be polyester continuous monofilament in a ladder or coil type configuration. Color of the chain shall be Camouflage Green 483 or natural finish brass and the sliders shall be brass. 3.2.16 Ring dee. The dee ring shall conform to class 1 or

41、 2, configuration K, size 1 inch by inch of MIL-R-3390. * 3.2.17 Ring, connecting. The connecting rings shall be of steel wire or cast malleable iron, black enamel, phosphate treated, zinc plate finished, size 2 or 5 in accordance with Drawing 4-1-206. The steel wire shall conform to steel numbers 1006 to 1020 in accordance with ASTM A853, ASTM A818, ASTM A641 or ASTM A809. * 3.2.17.2 Steel tube. The steel tube shall be seamless, round in accordance with AST

43、M A513 and ASTM A519. * 3.2.17.3 Malleable iron. The malleable iron shall be grade I (35018) Black, ungalvanized or grade II (32510)- Black, ungalvanized in accordance with ASTM A47. The first three digits of the grade designations indicate the minimum yield strength ( x 100 p.s.i.). The last two di

44、gits indicate the minimum elongation (percent in 2 inches). 3.2.18 Grommet, metallic. The Nos. 3 and 5 grommets shall conform to type III, class 3 and No.2 grommets shall conform to type II, class 3 of NASM 16491. 3.2.19 Fasteners, snap. The snap fasteners shall conform to style 2, finish 2, button

45、24 line size, size 1 and eyelet size 1 of MIL-F-10884. 3.2.20 Clip, end. The end clips shall conform to type I, class 1 or 2, size 1 inch of MIL-C-496. 3.2.21 Loops, strap fastener. The strap fastener loops shall conform to type III, style B of MIL-L-11075. 3.2.22 Snaphook. The snaphooks shall confo

46、rm to MIL-S-43770/10 or equal. 3.2.23 Pins, tent, metal. When required (see 6.2), the tent pins shall be type I, conforming to MIL-P-501. 3.2.24 Pole, tent, telescope. When required (see 6.2), the magnesium, adjustable telescopic tent poles shall conform to MIL-P-1716. 3.2.25 Kit, repair. The repair

47、 kit bag shall be fabricated from the material specified in 3.2.1 and of the design and dimensions shown on Drawing 5-4-580. The snap fastener on the pocket shall be as specified in 3.2.19. The bag containing the repair kit components, shall be securely tied and placed in the repair kit pocket of ea
