2、HE STANDARDS The Standards Council of Canada is the co-ordinating body of the National Standards System, a federation of independent, autonomous organizations working towards the further development and improvement af voluntary standardization in the national interest. The principal objects of the C

3、ouncil are to foster and promote voluntary standardization as a means of advancing the national economy, benefitting the health, safety and welfare of the public, assisting and protecting the consumer, facilitating domestic and international trade, and furthering international co-operation in the fi

4、eld of standards. A National Standard of Canada is a standard which has been approved by the Standards Council of Canada and one which reflects a reasonable agreement among the views of a number of capable individuals whose collective interests provide, to the greatest practicable extent, a batance

5、of representation of producers, users, COUNCIL OF CANADA consumers and others with relevant interests, as may be appropriate to the subject in hand. It normally is a staqdard which is capabte of making a significant and timely contribution-to the national interest. Approval of a Standard as a Nation

6、al Standard of Canada indicates that a standard conforms to the criteria and procedures established by the Standards Council of Canada. Approval does not refer to the technical content of the standard; this remains the continuing responsibility of the accredited standards-writing organization. Those

7、 who have a need to apply standards are encouraged to use National Standards of Canada whenever practicable. These standards are subject to periodic review; therefore, users are cautioned to obtain the latest edition from the organization preparing the standard. The responsibility for approving Nati

CANADA KIP 6N7 THE CANADIAN GAS ASSOCIATION The Canadian Gas Association, which represents all segments of the natural gas industry, has been accredited by the Standards Counct of Cana

9、da to prepare National Standards of Canada in the area of equipment for use with natural gas and propane. This Standard has been accepted by the Standards Committee, IGAC and SAC. This Standard is intended to be used within the scope of the standard CGA, founded in 1907, represents distributors, tra

10、nsmission companies, producers, pipeline contractors, manufacturers, and allied service organizations. CGA set up a standards writing, inspection, and certification programme in the mid-1950s at a time when natural gas service was being extended to Eastern Canada and the West Coast. The standards pr

11、ogramme now embraces 90 standards for gas appliances and accessories. Committees that write the standards include representation from all interests and are so constituted that no one interest may dominate. The interests represented include consumers, manufacturers, utilities, governmental inspection

12、 authorities, and certification organizations. Standards are prepared using the consensus principle with effort applied to reconcile differing opinions. Government inspection authoritres having jurisdictiori also ballot on the standards as members of the Interprovincial Gas Advisory Council (IGAC).

13、The CGA Standards Advisory Committee (SAC) reviews committee structures and procedures to determine that a standard meets !he criteria of the Standards Council of Canada. by the manufacturing sector. by those applying the equipment, or those responsible for its proper application. tt is the responsi

14、bility of the user to determine in each case that the Standard is suitable for the specific application. The Standards Committee and IGAC normally stipulate an effective date for the Standard, delayed sufficiently to permit suppliers to make adjustments. CGA Approvals, incorporated 1993, operates a

15、certification programme for fuel-fired products which is accepted by all Canadian inspection authorities and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition, through the Canadian Gas Research Institute (CGRI), the gas industry is pursuing the improvement of equipment and the development o

16、f new products. Data from these projects is available to Standards Committees for review and consideration. Recommendations for new standards and revisions to existing standards may come from any source. These suggestians should be addressed to the Standards Department of CGA Approvals. Published by

25、RATED GAS VALVES 1.9.1 Refrigerators shall be equipped with a manually operated burner gas valve(s). 1.9.2 A refrigerator having a valve attached to the end of a hose supplied by the manufacturer as part of the complete refrigerator assembly shall be deemed to- comply with clause 1.9.1 provided that

26、 the hose length does not exceed 3 ft. 1.9.3 The design of handles for taper plug and resilient seal type valves shall be such that the marking of the “off“ position is clearly and unmistakably indicated. (914 mm). 1.9.4 On needle type valves the direction of the open to closed rotation shall be cle

27、arly and unmistakably indicated to the user. 1.9.5 The marking specified in clauses 1.9.3 and 1.9.4 shall be Class I, I1 or 111.4 as specified in Appendix A. 1.9.6 All valves shall close in the clock- wise rotation. 1.9.7 Taper plug and resilient seal valves shall be tested as a component of the ref

28、rigerator. 1.9.8 Needle valves shall be tested as a component of the refrigerator. 1.9.9 Needle valves shall be so designed that it is impossible to withdraw completely the valve stem in the normal operation of the valve. 1.10 GAS PRESSURE REGULATORS 1.10.1 Where a heater is for use with regulated p

29、ressure, the regulator shall be supplied by the heater manufacturer, and the heater shall be marked with the identi- fying marking of the regulator(s). Refer to clause 1.20.3(g). 1.10.2 The pressure regulator shall be permanently stopped to limit the outlet pressure to the designed inlet operating p

30、ressure of the refrigerator 1.11 HOSE AND HOSE FITTINGS FOR CONDUCTING PROPANE AND NATURAL GAS or the current standard CAN1-8.3 THERMOPLASTIC HOSE AND HOSE COUPLINGS FOR CONDUCTING PROPANE AXD NATURAL GAS. 1.12 EXCESS FLOW DEVICES 1.12.1 An excess flow device shall be installed in the connection to

31、the cylinder valve outlet, and shall be of one of the following: (1) Excess floh7 valve (2) Ball check valve (3) Orifice of a #60 drill size. 1.13 TEMPERATURE CONTROL DEVICES 1.13.1 Temperature control devices shall comply with the current standard CAh1-6.6-bi78 GAS APPLIANCE THERMOSTATS or comply w

32、ith the current standard CSA C22.2 #24 TEMPERATURE INDICATING AND REGULATING EQUIPMENT. 1.13.2 Graduating-type temperature control devices shall be bypassed to permit a minimum safe gas flow with the thermostatic valve closed. 1.13.3 Bypass adjustments shall be capped or otherwise concealed in such

33、a manner as to prevent tampering or accidental dislodg- ment. 1.14 FLUES 1.14.1 Flue outlets shall be constructed so that they cannot be closed off by flat objects being placed on the refrigerator, 1.14.2 Dilution air openings in the flue shall be designed so as to minimize clogging by lint. In gene

34、ral, long narrow slots are to be avoided and also holes less than 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) in dia. 1.14.3 Baffles located in the flue shall be rigidly positioned to avoid displacement which would tend to clog the flue. Baffles may be removable for cleaning operations and if not removable shall be rigidly

35、mounted to avoid distortion. Flues having nonremovable baffles shall be designed so that they can be easily cleaned. 1.14.4 Metal used in the construction of flue gas baffles shall be suitable for the maximum temperature developed during the test, and in accordance hyith Table 1. 6 1.11.1 Hose and h

40、 place. There shall be no flash or “whiskers“ extending into the food storage compartment. 1.16.2 Insulation shall be adequately pro- tected against rncisture unless resistant to the effects of moisture, and shall not be exposed to flue products. 1.16.3 There shall be no adverse reaction betxeen the

41、 material used for thermal insula- tion for food storage compartments and elec- trical insulation, tubing or controls which may pass through. 1.17 SEALED ABSORPTION SYSTEM 1.17.1 The manufacturer shall present ei?idence acceptable to the testing agency, that the burst strength of the self-contained

42、refrigerant system is not less than five times the maxim8 working pressure determined at a ll0F (43.4 C) room ambient. 1.17.2 A system, unless constructed so that it hill not burst due to expansion of the refrigerant when subjected to abnormal out- side temperatures such as that generated by a fire,

(c) Fusible plug having a maximum fusing point of 280F (137.8OC)and an outlet not less than 1/16 inch (1.59mm) dia. 1.18 ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT 1.18.1 Electrical equipment, xiring and accessories built-in or supplied for use with a unit shall be submitted with the appliance

45、for tests under this standard. 1.18.2 Electrical equipment and wiring supplied on a unit shall be investigated for compliance with applicable sections of the Canadian Electrical Code, Parts I and 11. 1.19 INSTRUCTIONS 1.19.1 Refrigerators shall be accompanied by detailed printed instructions, in bot

46、h English and French, for the proper assemblv, maintenance, use, and lighting. The instructions shall also stress the need for an adequate supply of fresh air for combus- tion and ventilation, when used indoors. 1.20 MARKING 1.20.1 The marking on refrigerators shall be Class I, 11, or I11 A as speci

47、fied in Appendix A. 1.20.2 - 5- 1.20.4 1.20.2 All metal marking materials shall be rustproof. All markings shall be suitable for application to surfaces upon which applied. 1.20.3 Refrigerators shall be clearly and permanently marked with: The manufacturers or distributors name. The manufacturers or

48、 distributors model number of the refrigerator. The manufacturers minimum and maxi- mum input rating. Type of Gas- The symbol of the organization making the test for compliance with this standard. Clearances to combustible materials, in both English and French. The identifying marking of the regula-

49、 tors(s) where the heater is for use with regulated pressure. The statement “Portable Camp Refrigera- tors 17, 1.20.4 on the refrigerator, the information required in clauses 1.20.3(f) and 1.20.5 may be shohn on a separate metal tag, and affixed to the refrigerator. Where there is insufficient space 1.20.5 Aseparate warning label or metal tag easily visible when the refrigerator is in operation, shall bear the folloiing information in both English and French, with the minimum letter size as specified.
