The principal objects of the Council are to foster and promote voluntary standardization as a means of advancing the national economy, benefitting the health, safety and welfare of the public, assisting and protecting the mnsu mer, facilitating domestic and international trade, and furtherin

4、g international co-operation in the field of standards. A National Standard of Canada is a standard which has been approved by the Standards Council of Canada and one which reflects a reasonable agreement among the views of a number of capable individuals whose collective interests provide, to the g

5、reatest practicable extent, a balance of representation of producers, users, consumers and others with relevant interests, as may be appropriate to the subject in hand. It normally is a standard which is capable of making a significant and timely contribution to the national interest. Approval of a

6、Standard as a National Standard of Canada indicates that a standard conforms to the criteria and procedures established by the Standards Council of Canada. Approval does not refer to the technical content of the standard; this remains the continuing responsibility of the accredited standards-writing

7、 organization. Those who have a need to apply standards are encouraged to us8 National Standards of Canada whenever practicable. These standards are subject to periodic review; therefore, users are cautioned to obtain the latest edition from the organization preparing the standard. The responsibilit

K1P 6N7 THE CANADIAN GAS ASSOCIATION The Canadian Gas Association, which represents all segments of the natural gas industry, has been accredited by the Sta

9、ndards Council of Canada to prepare National Standards of Canada in the area of equipment for use with natural gas and propane. CGA, founded in 1907, represents distributors, transmission companies, producers, pipeline contractors, manufacturers, and allied service organizations. CGA set up a standa

10、rds writing, inspection, and certification programme in the mid-1950s at a time when natural gas service was being extended to Eastern Canada and the West Coast. The standards programme now embraces more than 90 standards for gas appliances and accessories. Committees that write the standards includ

11、e representation from all interests and are so constituted that no one interest may dominate. The interests represented include consumers, manufacturers, utilities, governmental inspection authorities, and certification organizations. Standards are prepared using the consensus principle with effort

12、applied to reconcile differing -opinions. Government inspection authorities having jurisdiction also batlot on the standards as members of the Interprovincial Gas Advisory Council (IGAC). The CGA Standards Advisory Committee (SAC) reviews committee structures and procedures to determine that a stand

13、ard meets the criteria of the Standards Council of Canada. CGA operates a certification programme for fuel-fired products which is accepted by all Canadian inspection authorities and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition, through the Canadian Gas Research Institute (CGRI), the g

14、as industry is pursuing the improvement of equipment and the development of new products. Data from these projects is available to Standards Committees for review and consideration. Recommendations for new standards and revisions to existing standards may come from any source. These suggestions shou

15、ld be addressed to the Standards Department of the Canadian Gas Association. 35、nd naterials, intendec! primarily for use in recreational vehicles. 1.1.2 This standard applies to appliances designed to be recessed into or attached to counter or cabinets. 1.1.3 This standard applies to appliances classified as: (a) Surface Unit (s) . b) Oven Units). (c) Broiler Unit Is). (d) Ran

36、ge (combination of a, b, and CJ 1.1.4 This standard also covers the electri- cal equipment, wiring and accessories built- in or supplied for use with the appliance when appliances are installed in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and 11. This standard does not cover cooking units

37、 with a supply voltage rating greater than 125 1. 1. I GESEX4L COSSTRUCTION AND ASSEIBLY 1.2.1 In subnittine an appliar,ce fcr test, the manufacturer may furnish a list cf manufacturing tolerances applicable thereto ar.d may have the appliance tested for compliance with this standard in both ex- tre

38、mes of tolerances specified. 1.2.2 The construction of all parts of a unit, whether specifically covered by the various sections of this standard or not, shall be in accordance kith reasonable concepts of safety, substantiality and durability. If any indication is observed during the tests prescribe

39、d herein that the appliance will not continue to meet the standard in normal usage, such supplementary tests shall be conducted that will provide safe and satisfactory service. 1.2.3 The general construction and assembly shall be of a neat and workmanlike character with parts well fitted and bolts o

40、r other fasteners drawn up tightly to give rigidity. Exposed edges which might reasonably be brought in contact Mith the hand during normal usage or adjustment of the appliance shall be smooth. 1.2.4 Material used in the construction of built-in units shall be suitable for temperatures to which it w

41、ill be exposed in use. 1.2.5 Every part of an appliance shall be of such construction as to be secure against displacement, distortion, warping, or other damage and shall be supported to maintain a fixed relationship between essential parts under normal and reasonable conditions of handling and usag

42、e so as to assure continuel compliance with this standard. Such parts not permanently secured shall be designed so that they cannot be incorrectly assembled and cannot be improperly located or misalign- ed in removing or replacing during cleaning or other servicing. 1.2.6 Electrical components requi

43、ring field adjustment or calibration shall be readily accessible with the appliance installed. If operation of the appliance is necessary to make such adjustments, means for making the adjustment shall be possible without exposing electrically live parts, disturb- ing wiring, and without the necessi

Partial disassembly for this purpose is permissible providing wiring is not exposed in such a manner as to possibly be damaged

46、 or have strain applied to connections during the servicing. The same conditicns apply to normal cleaning of the appliances. 1.2.7 If the appliazce is designed to have an exterior surface a2plied using materials supplied by the installer, the appliance shall be self sufficient without the applied ma

47、terial and shall be sufficiently rigid to be secure against displacement, distortion, uarping or other damage when such material is applied following either the manufacturers instructions or normal installaticn practices. Such units shall be designed so that opera- ting parts of the appliance can be

48、 serviced and removed and replaced without disturbing the applied exterior surface. 1.2.8 -2- 1.4.9 1.2.8 Backguards and radiation shields supplied with an appliance shall be part of and attached to the appliance structure. 49、ched in a proper manner. Spacers shall be nonremovable and of such strength and bearing surface as to maintain required clearances. 1.2.9 Oven and enclosed broiler units shall be equipped Kith an extreme top cover to protect controls from damage and to prevent materials from contacting flue collars or flue gas carrying conduits. 1.2.10 All controls, gas manifolds, gas supply tubing or piping to burners, electri- cal bases and flue collars shall be located within the appliance. Gas supply tubing or piping to burners of built-in ovens or broilers are excepted from
