16、rmationonly.ISO107672:1999(E) iv Introduction Inhydraulicfluidpowersystems,poweristransmittedandcontrolledthroughaliquidunde rpressurewithinan enclosedcircuit.Hydraulicpumpsaredeviceswhichconvertrotarymechanicalpowerintofluidpower.Pumpflow hasalarge,steadycomponentandasmaller,cyclicalcomponentsuperi
17、mposeduponit.I tisthissmaller,cyclical componentofthepumpflowthatreactswiththefluidsystemofthepumpanditscircuit,thatresultsinpressure rippleorfluidbornenoise.Thisfluidbornenoisecanbetransmittedthroughtheliquidunderpressuretoother attachedcomponentsandstructures,andcanresultinunwantednoiseandvibratio

While the flow ripple is the cause of the pressureripple,itismoredifficulttomeasure.Thereforepressureripplewill beusedinthisproceduretocharacterizethefluidbornenoisegenerationpotentialofhydraulic fluidpowerpumps. Pressurerippleisafunctionofthepumpdesignandthecircuitinwhichitismeasured.Itisimport
19、ant,therefore, thatthetestcircuitbecontrolledsoastoprovideuniformresultswhencomparin gthefluidbornenoisegeneration potential of different types of pumps.
