3、only to maintain or repair existing PVC gaspiping. This specification covers requirements for fittings foruse to maintain or repair existing PVC gas piping.1.1.1 In-plant quality control programs are specified inAnnex A1.1.2 The text of this specification references notes and,footnotes, and appendix

Terminology3.1 Definitions
17、Definitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F412, and abbreviations are in accordance with Termi-nology D1600, unless otherwise specified.3.2 The gas industry terminology used in this specificationis in accordance with ANSI B31.8 or 49 CFR Part 192, unlessotherwise indicated.3.3 The term pipe us
18、ed herein refers to both pipe and tubingunless specifically stated otherwise.3.4 pipe material designation codecode for thermoplasticpipe materials defined by the Plastics Pipe Institute in PPITR-4.3.5 category 1 mechanical fitting, nfitting for assemblingpipes, which includes a compression zone(s)
19、to provide forpressure integrity, leak tightness, and resistance to end loadssufficient to cause no less than 25 % elongation of the PVCpiping as described in this specification.3.6 in-line fitting, nmechanical fitting used to make amechanical joint where the bore axis of the compression andsealing

Materials4.1 GeneralThe plastic used to make PVC pipe and PVCfittings shall be virgin plastic or reworked plastic (see 4.2) andshall have a Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) long-term hydrostaticdesign stress and hydrostatic design basis rating.4.2 Rework Mat
22、erialClean rework material of the samecommercial designation, generated from the manufacturersown pipe and fitting production shall not be used unless thepipe and fitting produced meet all the requirements of thisspecification.4.3 PVC pipe and fittings shall be made from PVC plasticsdefined in Speci
23、fication D3915 as Class 124544 PVC pipecompound (PVC 1120) or Class 143333 PVC pipe compound(PVC 2116).4.4 Elevated Temperature ServicePVC piping materialsintended for use at temperatures above 73F (23C) shall havethe PPI hydrostatic design basis (HDB) determined at thespecific temperature in accord
24、ance with Test Method D2837.PVC piping materials intended for use at temperatures above73F (23C) shall use the PVC temperature derating factorsspecified in PPI TR-9.5.
