The amount of dust generated in the labora-tory practice will differ from that in residential/commercialinstallations because of variations in floor coverings, soil andother solid particulate compositions, the vacuuming process
16、used by individual operators, the air exchange rate of heating,ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and otherfactors.4.2 To provide a uniform basis for measuring the perfor-mance in 4.1, a standardized test chamber, equipment, floorcovering material, and dust particulate are used in thi
17、s testmethod.4.3 Due to the large range of generated particle countsobserved among products in the vacuum cleaner industry at thepresent time, the test results of the maximum particle countsgenerated under this test method are expressed in Log10equivalents for evaluation and comparison of product pe
18、rfor-mance.5. Apparatus5.1 An air-conditioned laboratory at 21 6 1.5C(70 6 5F) and 50 % relative humidity 65 % is to be used forsample preparation.5.2 Environmentally Controlled Test Chamber (per ANSI/AHAM AC-1-2006):5.2.1 Chamber SizeNominal dimensions of 3.2 by 3.7 by2.4 m (10.5 by 12 by 8 ft) up
19、to a 20 % difference in volumeis permitted.5.2.2 FrameworkStandard 5.1 by 10.2 cm (2 by 4 in.) orequivalent construction sealed to the floor line with caulkingcompound.5.2.3 WallsAny hard, cleanable surface, such as wallboard(sealed with a washable latex semi-gloss paint) or stainlesssteel.
