1、Designation: D 4066 01aStandard Classification System forNylon Injection and Extrusion Materials (PA)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 4066; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revi
2、sion. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope *1.1 This classification system covers nylon mat
3、erials suit-able for injection molding and extrusion. Some of thesecompositions are also suitable for compression molding andapplication from solution.1.2 The properties included in this classification system arethose required to identify the compositions covered. There maybe other requirements nece
4、ssary to identify particular charac-teristics important to specialized applications. These may bespecified by using the suffixes as given in Section 5.1.3 This classification system and subsequent line call-out(specification) are intended to provide a means of calling outplastic materials used in th
5、e fabrication of end items or parts.It is not intended for the selection of materials. Materialselection should be made by those having expertise in theplastic field after careful consideration of the design and theperformance required of the part, the environment to which itwill be exposed, the fab
6、rication process to be employed, thecosts involved, and the inherent properties of the material otherthan those covered by this classification system.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest methods portion, S
7、ection 11, of this classification system.This standard does not purport to address all of the safetyconcerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibilityof the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety andhealth practices and determine the applicability of regulatorylimitat
8、ions prior to use.NOTE 1This classification system is similar to ISO 1874-1/-2 1993,although the technical content is significantly different.NOTE 2This classification system is being revised to include interna-tional 4-mm specimens and test procedures as the standard for compli-ance. The 3.2-mm spe
9、cimens; test methods; and Tables PA, A, and B areincluded in Appendix X3 as a reference for those wishing to use them.
