1、Designation: D 2838 08Standard Test Method forShrink Tension and Orientation Release Stress of PlasticFilm and Thin Sheeting1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 2838; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision
2、, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This test method covers the determination of the shrinktension and related characteristics, that is, sh
3、rink force andorientation release stress, of heat-shrinkable plastic film andsheeting of less than 1.0 mm (0.04 in.) thickness. Twoprocedures are described that permit the measurement of shrinkforces at predetermined temperatures. They are as follows:1.1.1 Procedure A is designed to measure the maxi

5、a specific temperature.1.2 Orientation release stress can be determined from thedata obtained using Procedure A.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. The values in parentheses are for information only.NOTE 1There is no known ISO equivalent to this test method.1.4 This

The holder is immersed ina hot bath and the force exerted by the film is measured by thestrain gage. The data is collected by a

Significance and Use5.1 As a result of the manufacturing process, internalstresses are locked into the film and these can be released byheating. For any given type of film or sheeti

Theorientation exerts a great influence upon important physicalcharacteristics such as tensile strength, stiffness, tear
