Scope1.1 This specification covers the properties of a curedsingle- or multicomponent
3、cold-applied elastomeric joint seal-ant for sealing, caulking, or glazing operations on buildings,plazas, and decks for vehicular or pedestrian use, and types ofconstruction other than highway and airfield pavements andbridges.1.2 A sealant meeting the requirements of this specificationshall be desi
4、gnated by the manufacturer to be one or more ofthe types, classes, grades, and uses defined in Section 7.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsRefer to Terminology C717 for definitionsof the following terms used in this specification: adhesivefailure, caulking, chemically curing sealant, cohesive failure,cure, cured, elastomeric, glazing, joint, pri

Classification of Sealants4.1 A sealant qualifying under this specification shall beclassified as to type, grade, class, and use as follows:4.1.1 Type SA single-component sealant.4.1.2 Type MA multicomponent sealant.4.1.3 Grade PA pourable or selfleveling sealant that hassuffic
10、ient flow to form a smooth, level surface when applied ina horizontal joint at 4.4C (40F).4.1.4 Grade NSA nonsag or gunnable sealant that permitsapplication in joints on vertical surfaces without sagging orslumping when applied at temperatures between 4.4 and 50C(40 and 122F).4.1.5 Class 100/50Aseal
11、ant that when tested for adhesionand cohesion under cyclic movement (8.8) shall withstand anincrease of at least 100 % and a decrease of at least 50 % of thejoint width as measured at the time of application, and, inaddition, meet all the requirements of this specification.4.1.6 Class 50Asealant tha
12、t when tested for adhesion andcohesion under cyclic movement (8.8) shall withstand anincrease and decrease of at least 50 % of the joint width asmeasured at the time of application, and, in addition, meet allthe requirements of this specification.4.1.7 Class 35Asealant that when tested for adhesion

18、nt designed for use in joints inpedestrian and vehicular traffic areas such as walkways, plazas,decks and parking garages where a higher modulus, firmersealant is desired.4.1.11 Use T2A sealant designed for use in joints inpedestrian and vehicular traffic areas such as walkways, plazas,decks and par
19、king garages where a more lower modulus, softersealant is desired.NOTE 1Hardness alone does not correlate with joint performance.The joints in pedestrian and vehicular traffic areas such as walkways,plazas, decks, and parking garages require appropriate design consider-ations including material sele
20、ction, total joint design, manufacturerinvolvement and field testing.4.1.12 Use NTA sealant designed for use in joints innontraffic areas.4.1.13 Use IA sealant designed for use in joints which aresubmerged continuously in a liquid.4.1.14 Use MAsealant that meets the requirements of thisspecification
21、 when tested on mortar specimens in accordancewith 9.9 and 9.10.4.1.15 Use GA sealant that meets the requirements of thisspecification when tested on glass specimens in accordancewith 9.9-9.11.4.1.16 Use AA sealant that meets this specification whentested on aluminum specimens in accordance with 9.9
22、 and9.10.4.1.17 Use OA sealant that meets this specification whentested on substrates other than the standard substrates inaccordance with 9.9 and 9.10.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 A single-component sealant shall be a uniform mixtureof a consistency suitable for immediate application by hand orp
23、ressure caulking gun or by hand tool. The sealant whencompletely cured shall form an elastomeric solid capable ofmaintaining a seal.5.2 A multicomponent chemically curing sealant shall befurnished in two or more components. The resulting mixtureshall be uniform and of a consistency suitable for imme
24、diateapplication by hand or pressure caulking gun, or by hand tool.The sealant when completely cured shall form an elastomericsolid capable of maintaining a seal.6. General Requirements6.1 Stability:6.1.1 A single-component sealant, when stored in the origi-nal unopened container at temperatures of
