2、rtment of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers one type of assembled decontaminating apparatus (see 6.1). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. O 2.1.1 Specifications, standards, and
3、 handbooks. The following specifications, stan- dards, and handbooks form a part of this document to the extent specified herein. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulatio
11、ns unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials. All materials cited on Drawing 5-51-527 and on the subsidiary drawings shall conform to the specifications and drawings listed thereon. 2 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without lice

All components of the decontaminating apparatus shall conform to the specifications and drawings listed on Drawing 5-51-527 and subsidiary drawings. O 3.3 Manufacture and assembly. The decontaminating apparatus shall be manufactured
13、and assembled in accordance with Drawing 5-51-527. 3.4 Spray characteristics. At room conditions the decontaminating apparatus shall be capable of being primed with no more than 10 strokes of the pump piston. With the wand held horizontally a minimum of 4 feet above the outlet of fluid container, sp
14、ray shall be projected a horizontal distance of at least 3 feet and no leakage shall occur when the pump is activated and tested in accordance with 4.4.6.1. 3.5 First article. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, a sample of decontaminat- ing apparatus shall be subjected to the first article
15、inspection specified in 4.3 prior to the start of regular production and whenever there is a lapse in production for a period in excess of 90 days or whenever a change occurs in manufacturing process, material, drawings, speci- fications, or source of supply as to significantly affect product unifor
16、mity as determined by the Government. 3.6 Workmanship. The decontaminating apparatus shall be free from cracks, dents, sharp edges, unpainted surfaces, rust, and foreign matter such as dirt, grease, and oily or viscous materials. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unl
17、ess otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (ex- aminations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other fac
18、ilities suitable for the per- formance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Govern- ment. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and servi
19、ces conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection re
20、quirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all require- ments of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an ac- ceptable pra
21、ctice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license

The contractors quality program or de- tailed inspection system shall provide assurance of compliance of all characteristics with the applicable drawing, special packaging instruction, and spe
23、cification requirements using, as a minimum, the conformance criteria specified herein. 4.1.3 Alternative inspection provisions. Alternative inspection procedures, methods, or equipment, such as statistical process control, tool control, and other types of sampling procedures may be used by the cont
24、ractor when they provide, as a minimum, the level of quality assurance required by the inspection provisions specified herein. Prior to applying such alternative procedures, methods, or equipment, the contractor shall describe them in a written proposal submitted to the Government for evaluation and
