1、INCH-POUND A-A-59723 04 August 2003 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION DEGREASER The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers an electric operated, air and cold solvent a

2、nti-friction bearing cleaner, sometimes called a bearing cleaning bench. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Functional requirements. The bearing cleaning bench shall consist essentially of a caster-mounted fabricated steel cabinet containing a cleaning tank and basket, fluid pressure system air pressure

3、 system, cleaning gun and hose assembly, and an explosion proof electrical system. The fluid pressure system shall supply room temperature cleaning solvent under controlled flows and pressures to the cleaning gun and cleaning tank; the main components of this system shall be an electrically driven,

4、constant displacement pump, a 5 micron dual filter assembly, a 380 micron filter, a pressure gage, a flow control valve, a fluid supply shutoff valve, the necessary lines and associated fittings required to interconnect system components. The air pressure system, when connected to an external shop a

5、ir pressure source, shall supply dry, filtered shop air at controlled pressures to the cleaning gun; the main components of the air pressure system shall be a 10 micron filter, an air pressure regulator, and the necessary lines and associated fittings required interconnecting system components. The

6、electrical system shall provide control and protective devices and required electrical wiring for operation of the electrically driven pump; the electrical system consists of a stop/star switch, magnetic starter, pump motor, and the interconnecting electrical wiring. The operating pressure of the unit shall be 0 to 75 psig +/- 5 psig and air at 0 to 150 psig. The unit shall be capable of being used with MIL-PRF-680, Type III degreasing solvent and

9、shop air. 2.3 Tank features and hardware. The working capacity of the unit shall be 10 gallons (minimum), and the tank dimensions shall be 15 inches high by 24 inches wide by 24 inches deep (all minimum dimensions). The tank shall be provided with a basket, 22.5 inches by 22.5 inches by 5 inches dee

10、p ( all minimum). The unit shall be provided with a cleaning gun assembly. The gun shall be a Binks model 18 or equivalent with hoses 8 feet by 3/8 inch dia. for solvent and 8 feet by 5/16 inch dia. for air. 2.4 Electrical requirements. Electrical equipment and wiring provided shall conform to the N

11、ational Electrical Code, NFPA 70. The explosion proof electric motor shall conform to Underwriters Laboratories Class I, Division I, Group D of NFPA 70. 2.5 Materials. All metals contact with the solvent shall be stainless steel; other materials shall be suitable for their applications. 3. REGULATOR

12、Y REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Recovered Materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product Conformance. The products provide

13、d shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof

14、of such conformance. 4.2 Market Acceptability. The product offered must have been previously sold either to the government or on the commercial market. 4.3 Bid sample. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a bid sample shall be provided for government verification of compliance with the

15、following inspections(s). 4.3.1 Examination. The bearing cleaner shall be visually examined to assure that it meets the requirements of this CID. 4.3.2 Cleaning test. Bearings that are hard packed with grease and dirt shall be washed using the cleaning gun and then loaded into the cleaning basket. A

16、fter the cleaning cycle, the bearings shall be inspected to see if they have been thoroughly degreased and washed. 5.
