Scope1.1 This specification covers non-contact high
3、-voltage prox-imity alarms used to detect high voltage alternating current (ac)on overhead power lines. The high-voltage proximity alarm(HVPA) is limited to the detection of voltage greater than 600V ac at power system frequencies between 50 to 60 Hz.1.2 High-voltage proximity alarms provide audible
4、/visualalerts and may have the ability to limit movement of equip-ment.1.3 The use, installation, and maintenance of these high-voltage proximity alarms are beyond the scope of this specifi-cation. This standard does not purport to address installation, inservice care or use.1.4 This standard demons
5、trates the high voltage proximityalarm (HVPAs) ability to detect an e-field, and not the effectsof various configurations of multiple power lines.1.5 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system are not necessarily
6、 exact equivalents; therefore, toensure conformance with the standard, each system shall beused independently of the other, and values from the twosystems shall not be combined.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsi
7、bility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety, health, and environmental practices and deter-mine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.Specific warnings are given in 9.1.4 and 10.9.2.1.7 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internat
8、ionally recognized principles on standard-ization established in the Decision on Principles for theDevelopment of International Standards, Guides and Recom-mendations issued by the World Trade Organization TechnicalBarriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.2. Terminology2.1 Definitions:2.1.1 alternating cur
9、rent (ac) voltage, npotential differ-ence in charge between two connected points in which thedirection of current flow alternates.2.1.2 audible alarm indication, naudible alarm that isinitiated when a predetermined threshold is met.2.1.3 configuration, nclosely coupled and non-closelycoupled equipme
10、nt. For example, outriggers or steel treads forclosely coupled equipment, and rubber tires for non-closelycoupled as specified by the HVPA manufacturer. Specificallyexcludes equipment intended to work closer than 10 ft to anoverhead ac power line.2.1.4 direct current (dc) voltage, npotential differe
11、nce incharge between two connected points in which the direction ofcurrent flow does not change.2.1.5 E-field, nelectric force per unit change.2.1.6 equipment, nspecific types of equipment that themanufacturer endorses.2.1.7 function kick out system (optional), nsystem bywhich the equipment operated
12、 is being forcibly shut down bythe high-voltage proximity alarm, also known as auto-shutdown.2.1.8 high voltage, nany measured voltage higher than600 V ac.2.1.9 high voltage proximity alarm, ndevice that providesa warning of general proximity to a power line also referred toas HVPA for proximity war
13、ning device.2.1.10 information screen, npanel area, in which images,data, or both, are displayed to the operator.2.1.11 limitation, nthreshold, parameters on both at whichthe high-voltage proximity alarm will not reliably functionabove or below, or both.2.1.12 operational check, nphysical verificati

16、nd record the result in Table 3.10.11 Verifying the Possible Shadowing Effect from BoomApparatus:10.11.1 Set up the apparatus with the following conditions:10.11.1.1 Use the 5 ft boom apparatus.10.11.1.2 Overhead power line located at 5 ft height on testelectrical posts.10.11.1.3 Position the boom a
17、pparatus at the mid-spanbetween post No. 1 and 2, and the test distance away from theoverhead power line using the test distance guide as describedpreviously. The test distance guide will be removed afterlocating the boom apparatus.10.11.1.4 With the boom apparatus in closely coupledconfiguration sh
18、own in 8.4.10.11.1.5 With the proximity alarm positioned in position 1(see Fig. 20).10.11.2 Ensure all personnel are cleared from the overheadpower lines and apparatus, turn on the high voltage proximityalarm, and energize the overhead power line.10.11.3 Determine if the high voltage proximity alarm
19、passes for position 1. De-energize the overhead power line andrecord the results in Table 3.10.11.4 Repeat 10.11.2 to 10.11.3 for the other three posi-tions shown in Fig. 20.10.12 Verifying Effects of Variable Boom and AntennaLength:10.12.1 Repeat 10.11.2 to 10.11.4 with 10 ft boom apparatusand at 1
