34、Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this standard shallbe interpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.MATERIAL4 Hot-Mopping Asphalt4.1 Asphalt shall be free from water.4.2 Freshly-melted asphalt shall be homogeneous. The surface of

35、 the melted asphalt shall not becomevisibly dull due to the separation of oil, grease, paraffin, scale, or similar materials after 1 week of agingat room temperature.4.3 Asphalt shall have a softening point of not less than 135F (57C) and not more than 225F (107C).See Softening Point Tests, Section

36、13.4.4 Asphalt shall have a flash point of not less than:a) 437F (225C) as determined by Method I; orb) 410F (210C) as determined by Method II of the Flash Point Tests, Section 14.5 Coal-Tar Pitch5.1 Coal-tar pitch shall be free from water.5.2 Freshly-melted coal-tar pitch shall be homogenous, havin

37、g a glossy black color. The surface of themelted coal-tar pitch shall not become visibly dull due to the separation of oily constituents after 1 weekof aging at room temperature. Freshly-fractured material shall have a satiny black surface.5.3 Coal-tar pitch shall have a softening point of not less

38、than 130F (54C) and not greater than 155F(68C), as determined by the Softening Point Test, Section 13.5.4 Coal-tar pitch shall have a flash point of not less than:a) 248F (120C) as determined by Method I; orb) 241F (116C) as determined by Method II of the Flash Point Tests, Section 14.NOVEMBER 19, 2

39、004MATERIALS FOR BUILT-UP ROOF COVERINGS - UL 55A66 Felt6.1 Organic felt6.1.1 Organic felt shall be uniformly smooth and, upon splitting or tearing on the bias, shall be sufficientlyfree from knots or lumps of stock that have not been beaten or shredded into fiber in the process ofmanufacture to per

40、mit obtaining the required saturation of the felt (see 8.1.1 8.1.3). It shall also besufficiently free from coarse sawdust, shives, and foreign substances, such as fragments of stone, metal,leather, and rubber.6.1.2 The weight of moisture-free organic felt (desaturated when determined from a sample

41、of thefinished product) shall be not less than:a) 5.2 pounds per 100 square feet (0.253 kg/m2) for Type 15 felt;b) 6.8 pounds per 100 square feet (0.331 kg/m2) for Type 20 felt; andc) 10.0 pounds per 100 square feet (0.488 kg/m2) for Type 30 felt. See 15.1.1 15.1.3.6.1.3 The weight of ash from organ

42、ic felt shall be not more than 10 percent of the weight of themoisture-free felt as determined by the Percent of Ash in Felt Test, Section 16.6.2 Glass-fiber mat (felt)6.2.1 Mat shall be:a) Uniformly thick;b) Free of delaminations, tuftings, oil, and grease; andc) Sufficiently free of wrinkles, torn

43、 edges, tears, and lumps to permit uniform coating of themat (see 9.1).6.2.2 For the purposes of the requirement of 6.2.1:a) Delamination is the separation of the top and bottom strata of mat.b) Tufting is the breaking loose of the upper strata of mat so as to protrude as a flare.6.2.3 The weight of

44、 moisture-free mat (desaturated when determined from a sample of the finishedproduct) shall be not less than 1.0 pound per 100 square feet (0.108 kg/m2). See 15.2.1 15.2.3.6.2.4 The weight of ash from mat shall be not less than 70 percent of the weight of the moisture-free matafter being heated to 1

46、termined by Method I; orb) 150F (66C) as determined by Method II of the Flash Point Tests, Section 14.8 Saturated Felt8.1 Organic felt8.1.1 The saturation of organic felt shall be thorough and uniform and the felt shall show no unsaturatedspots at any point when 2-inch (51-mm) strips are torn at ran

47、dom on the bias across the entire sheet.8.1.2 The weight of the asphalt saturant introduced into organic felt shall be not less than 1.2 times theweight of the moisture-free felt in the same respective area for Type 15 or 20 felt and not less than 1.5times for Type 30 felt. The weight of the coal-ta

48、r saturant introduced into organic felt shall be not less than1.4 times the weight of the moisture-free felt in the same respective area. See 15.3.1 15.3.3.8.1.3 The saturation efficiency of the organic felt shall be not less than 70 percent for Type 15 or 20asphalt saturated felts. See 15.6.1 15.6.

49、3.8.1.4 The variation in width from the nominal value specified by the manufacturer shall not exceed 1/4inch (6.4 mm).9 Asphalt Coated Glass-Fiber Mat9.1 The individual fibers of coated mat shall be uniformly coated with the asphalt and, if necessary tocomply with the requirement of 10.2, the mat shall be surfaced with a parting agent. Type G1 coated matmay contain pinholes not larger than 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) in diameter. Type G2 coated mat may containpi
