6、ard the vehicle. Power supplies that are covered by theserequirements are rated up to 250 V ac, 50/60 Hz.1.2 Power supplies covered by these requirements are not intended to have their outputs supplied directlyto on-board battery packs. Devices for this purpose are considered on-board chargers and a

7、re coveredby the Standard for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging System Equipment, UL 2202.1.3 This outline does not cover power supplies for general use or power supplies intended to be usedwithin the passenger compartment of the vehicle.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component used as a

In addition, in the text of thisdocument, the term device refers to the product covered by this outline.5.2 ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) An over-the-road automotive type vehicle for highway use, such as ap

12、assenger automobile, bus, truck, van, or similar vehicle, which receives primary or supplementarypower from an electric motor that draws current from a rechargeable storage battery. This term is usedto cover electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.5.3 ENCLOS

13、URE That portion of a device that reduces the accessibility of a part that involves a riskof fire, electric shock, injury to persons, or hazardous energy levels, or reduces the risk of propagationof flame, sparks, and molten metal initiated by an electrical disturbance occurring within.CONSTRUCTION6

14、 Power Supplies General6.1 The power supply shall comply with the applicable requirements of the Standard for InformationTechnology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1, except for as modified by thisoutline.7 Ambient Temperature Range7.1 Power supplies covered by these requirem

15、ents shall be capable of operation over an ambienttemperature range of minus 30C to 40C (minus 22F to 104F).7.2 The temperature test in the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: GeneralRequirements, UL 60950-1, shall be performed based on the ambient temperature range shown in

16、 7.1.7.3 The temperature rating of insulation on wires, transformers, barriers, and the like, shall be suitable forthe ambient temperature range shown in 7.1.7.4 Plastic materials that are used as enclosure materials and that may be subject to impact shall beevaluated in accordance with the Standard

18、s shall be in accordance with the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1, based on a pollution degree 3 environment.8.2 With reference to 8.1, means to control the pollution degree in the Standard for InsulationCoordination Including Clearances

19、and Creepage Distances for Electrical Equipment, UL 840, areallowed.9 Environmental Enclosure9.1 If a power supply is provided with an enclosure, then that enclosure shall comply with one of theoutdoor type enclosures in accordance with the Standard for Enclosures for Electrical Equipment,Environmen

20、tal Considerations, UL 50E.9.2 Materials used to form the enclosure shall be corrosion resistant or provided with a corrosion resistantcoating in accordance with the Standard for Enclosures for Electrical Equipment, EnvironmentalConsiderations, UL 50E.9.3 Nonmetallic materials used to form the enclo

21、sure shall be acceptable for exposure to gasoline and oilin accordance with Volume Change and Extraction Test, Section 12.9.4 Nonmetallic material used to from the enclosure shall be suitable for water exposure in accordancewith the Standard for Polymeric Materials Use in Electrical Equipment Evalua

22、tions, UL 746C. If theenclosure will be subjected to direct sunlight, it shall also be suitable for UV exposure in accordance withUL 746C.10 External Connections10.1 For input or output connections that are external to an enclosure and are intended to be exposedonce installed in the vehicle, the wir

23、ing or cable shall comply with 10.2 and the connectors shall complywith 10.3.10.2 Wire or cable used for input or output connections for power supplies, and intended to be exposedafter installation, shall comply with the Outline for Surface Vehicle On Board Cable, UL Subject 2733.10.3 Connectors use

24、d for input or output connections for power supplies, and intended to be exposedafter installation, shall comply with the Outline for Connectors for Use With On Board Electric Vehicle (EV)Charging Systems, UL Subject 2734.10.4 Terminals may be supplied for the connection of vehicle wiring. Terminals

25、 shall be suitable for thewire size and current rating involved, and shall comply with the relevant requirements in the Standard forInformation Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1.10.5 For input or output connections that are internal to an enclosure or are intended

27、ION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULPERFORMANCE11 Vibration Test11.1 A sample of the power supply shall not emit flame or molten metal or result in a risk of fire, electricshock, or injury to persons when subjected to the tests specified in 11.3 and 11.4.11.2 With reference to 11.1, a risk of fire, electr

28、ic shock or injury to persons is considered to exist if:a) Flame or molten metal is emitted from the power supply as evidenced by ignition, glowing,or charring of the cheesecloth or tissue paper, orb) The insulation breaks down when tested in accordance with the Electric Strength Test in theStandard

29、 for Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL60950-1.11.3 A power supply shall be mounted to the vibration fixture in accordance with the manufacturersmounting instructions and shall be subjected to a vibration test. After the power supply is subjected to thevibration

30、 test described in 11.4:a) The power supply shall comply with 11.1;b) There shall be no loosening of parts; andc) The unit shall operate normally.11.4 The vibration test shall consist of vibration for one hour at a frequency of 10 to 55 Hz and back to10 Hz, with a linear sweep having a sweep time of

31、 two minutes per sweep cycle. The amplitude is to be1.0+0.1,-0mm(0.040 +0.004, -0 inch) p-p displacement limit in a vertical plane.12 Volume Change and Extraction12.1 In accordance with 9.3, nonmetallic materials used to form an enclosure shall be suitable forexposure to gasoline and oil. Materials

32、shall not show a volume change in excess of 25 percent swellingor 1 percent shrinkage after the tests described in 12.2 12.6. In addition, materials shall not show aweight loss in excess of 10 percent when tested as described in 12.2 12.6.12.2 Six samples of the material are to be tested. The sample

33、s are to be 25.4 mm by 25.4 mm (1 inchby inch) and at the minimum intended thickness. Samples shall be cut from sheet or slab material, or maybe cut from the actual enclosure provided that the samples are cut from a flat section of the enclosure. Inorder to provide for a smooth and uniform material,

34、 the sample may be buffed or skived in accordancewith the Standard Practice for Rubber Preparation of Pieces for Test Purposed from Products, ASTMD3183.12.3 The weight of all six samples is to be determined to the nearest milligram using an analyticalbalance. The volume of all six samples is to be d

36、used with ASTM Reference Fuel C and threesamples with IRM 903 oil. The samples are to be fully immersed in the liquids for 70 1/2 hours at 23 2C (74 4F).12.5 At the end of the immersion period, the samples are removed one at a time from the test liquid, andmeasured again, to determine the length, wi

37、dth, and thickness of the samples to the nearest 0.1 mm(0.004 inches). The percent change in volume is determined by the following equations:V2=L2xW2xT2V1=L1xW1xT1V% = (V2-V1)/V1 x 100in which:L1,W1, and T1are the length, width and thickness before immersion; andL2,W2, and T2are the length, width an

38、d thickness after immersion.12.6 The six samples are then allowed to dry in air for 70 1/2 hours at 23 2C (74 4F). After thisdrying period, the weight of each sample is determined to the nearest milligram using an analyticalbalance. The percent change in weight is to be calculated for each of the th

39、ree samples and averaged.W% = (WbWa)/Wb x 100in which:Wais the weight of the sample after the immersion; andWbis the weight of the sample before the immersion test.PRODUCTION LINE TEST13 General13.1 Each product shall withstand without electrical breakdown, as a routine production-line test, theappl

40、ication of an ac potential at a frequency within the range of 40 - 70 hertz or a dc potential betweenthe primary wiring, including connected components, and accessible dead metal parts that are likely tobecome energized.13.2 The production-line test shall be in accordance with either Condition A or

41、Condition B of Table 13.1.The full test potential is to be applied for the full time specified in Table 13.1. The test potential may beapplied gradually until the full test potential is attained; however, for the 1-second test, the full testpotential shall be applied at the beginning of the test.JAN

It is not intended thatthe product be unwired, modified, or disass

44、embled for the test.Exception: The test may be conducted before final assembly if the test represents that for the completedproduct.13.5 The test equipment shall include a means of indicating the test potential, an audible or visualindicator of electric breakdown, and either a manually reset device

45、to restore the equipment after electricalbreakdown or an automatic feature that rejects any unacceptable unit. If an ac test potential is applied,the test equipment shall also include a transformer having an essentially sinusoidal output.13.6 If the output of the test equipment transformer is less t

46、han 500 volt-amperes, the equipment shallinclude a voltmeter in the output circuit to indicate the test potential directly.13.7 If the output of the test equipment transformer is 500 volt-amperes or more, the test potential maybe indicated:a) By a voltmeter in the primary circuit or in a tertiary wi

47、nding circuit;b) By a selector switch marked to indicate the test potential; orc) In the case of equipment having a single test potential output, by a marking in a readilyvisible location to indicate the test potential. When marking is used without an indicatingvoltmeter, the equipment shall include

48、 a positive means, such as an indicator lamp, to indicatethat the manually reset switch has been reset following a dielectric breakdown.13.8 Test equipment other than that described in 13.5 13.7 may be used if found acceptable toaccomplish the intended factory control.13.9 During the test, the prima

49、ry switch is to be in the on position if on exists.
