6、ard the vehicle. Power supplies that are covered by theserequirements are rated up to 250 V ac, 50/60 Hz.1.2 Power supplies covered by these requirements are not intended to have their outputs supplied directlyto on-board battery packs. Devices for this purpose are considered on-board chargers and a
7、re coveredby the Standard for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging System Equipment, UL 2202.1.3 This outline does not cover power supplies for general use or power supplies intended to be usedwithin the passenger compartment of the vehicle.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component used as a
8、 part of a unit covered by this outline shall complywith the requirements for that component.2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this outline, orb)

11、hat code or standard.5 Glossary5.1 For the purposes of this outline, the following definitions apply. In addition, in the text of thisdocument, the term device refers to the product covered by this outline.5.2 ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) An over-the-road automotive type vehicle for highway use, such as ap
12、assenger automobile, bus, truck, van, or similar vehicle, which receives primary or supplementarypower from an electric motor that draws current from a rechargeable storage battery. This term is usedto cover electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.5.3 ENCLOS
13、URE That portion of a device that reduces the accessibility of a part that involves a riskof fire, electric shock, injury to persons, or hazardous energy levels, or reduces the risk of propagationof flame, sparks, and molten metal initiated by an electrical disturbance occurring within.CONSTRUCTION6
14、 Power Supplies General6.1 The power supply shall comply with the applicable requirements of the Standard for InformationTechnology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1, except for as modified by thisoutline.7 Ambient Temperature Range7.1 Power supplies covered by these requirem
15、ents shall be capable of operation over an ambienttemperature range of minus 30C to 40C (minus 22F to 104F).7.2 The temperature test in the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: GeneralRequirements, UL 60950-1, shall be performed based on the ambient temperature range shown in
16、 7.1.7.3 The temperature rating of insulation on wires, transformers, barriers, and the like, shall be suitable forthe ambient temperature range shown in 7.1.7.4 Plastic materials that are used as enclosure materials and that may be subject to impact shall beevaluated in accordance with the Standard

18、s shall be in accordance with the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1, based on a pollution degree 3 environment.8.2 With reference to 8.1, means to control the pollution degree in the Standard for InsulationCoordination Including Clearances
19、and Creepage Distances for Electrical Equipment, UL 840, areallowed.9 Environmental Enclosure9.1 If a power supply is provided with an enclosure, then that enclosure shall comply with one of theoutdoor type enclosures in accordance with the Standard for Enclosures for Electrical Equipment,Environmen
20、tal Considerations, UL 50E.9.2 Materials used to form the enclosure shall be corrosion resistant or provided with a corrosion resistantcoating in accordance with the Standard for Enclosures for Electrical Equipment, EnvironmentalConsiderations, UL 50E.9.3 Nonmetallic materials used to form the enclo
21、sure shall be acceptable for exposure to gasoline and oilin accordance with Volume Change and Extraction Test, Section 12.9.4 Nonmetallic material used to from the enclosure shall be suitable for water exposure in accordancewith the Standard for Polymeric Materials Use in Electrical Equipment Evalua
22、tions, UL 746C. If theenclosure will be subjected to direct sunlight, it shall also be suitable for UV exposure in accordance withUL 746C.10 External Connections10.1 For input or output connections that are external to an enclosure and are intended to be exposedonce installed in the vehicle, the wir
23、ing or cable shall comply with 10.2 and the connectors shall complywith 10.3.10.2 Wire or cable used for input or output connections for power supplies, and intended to be exposedafter installation, shall comply with the Outline for Surface Vehicle On Board Cable, UL Subject 2733.10.3 Connectors use
24、d for input or output connections for power supplies, and intended to be exposedafter installation, shall comply with the Outline for Connectors for Use With On Board Electric Vehicle (EV)Charging Systems, UL Subject 2734.10.4 Terminals may be supplied for the connection of vehicle wiring.
