3、USE This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers triple-offset torque seated (TOTS), quarter turn valves for fuel oil, aviation fuel, lubricating oil, seawater, auxiliary seawater, freshwater, chill
4、ed water, and potable water piping system services. The associated hydraulic or electric gear operators/actuators are not covered by this specification. 1.2 Classification. 1.2.1 Types. TOTS valves are classified into two types based on materials of manufacture (see table I): a. Type I Non-ferrous b
5、. Type II Ferrous 1.2.2 Body styles. The following TOTS valve body styles are covered by this specification. There are two styles (wafer and lug) and two thicknesses for each (short and long), totaling four style options. Short is equivalent to the face-to-face dimension equivalent of a MIL-V-22133
6、rubber-lined butterfly valve. Long is equivalent to the face-to-face dimension of a MIL-V-24624 high performance butterfly valve. a. A Short wafer b. B Long wafer c. C Short lugged wafer d. 17、 exceeds 250 ppm and total leachable halides do not exceed 250 ppm. 2/During manufacture, fabrication, handling, packaging, and packing, TOTS valve materials shall not come in contact with mercury or mercury compounds. 3.2.2 Toxins, carcinogens, reproductive hazards. The material shall have no adver
18、se effect on the health of personnel when used for its intended purpose. The material shall be assessed by the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center using the administrative Health Hazard Assessment (HHA). A flowchart for this process can be found in BUMEDINST 6270.8. The HHA is a review of the
19、 material based on information submitted by the manufacturer to assess health hazards associated with the handling, application, use, and removal of the product. The material shall not cause any environmental problems during waste disposal. 3.2.3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable ma
20、terials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3 Design and construction. TOTS va
21、lves shall be of the types, body styles, seat styles, and sizes specified (see 1.2 and 6.2). The stem, disc, and seat shall have a double offset design. The third offset shall be achieved by inclining the seat and seal cone centerline with respect to the pipe and valve centerline in order to elimina

The dimensions of Type I and Type II valve bodies shall be in accordance with the requirements specified in ASME B16.34 for C
23、lass 150 valves. The minimum wall thicknesses for Type I and Type II valves shall be calculated in accordance with the basis equations for minimum wall thickness table of ASME B16.34 for Class 150 valves. Note that the design criteria specified in ASME B16.34 applies only to ferrous materials and mu
24、st be modified to consider the stress limits for non-ferrous materials prior to use in the design of Type I (non-ferrous) valves. Valves shall be designed for installation between flanges in accordance with ASME B16.5 Class 150 for ferrous (Type II) valves and Drawing 810-1385892 for non-ferrous (Ty
