、Y, SOLID-STATE This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for shipboard solid-state proximi
、ty switches. The switches use an inductive sensor for noncontact position sensing of metallic objects. The switches transfer power between a power source (see 6.4.13) and its loads when the switch is actuated. 1.2 Classification. Solid-state proximity switches are of the following designations, as s
、pecified (see 6.2): 1.2.1 Switch designations. Switches are designated according to type of input voltage (alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC); maximum sensing distance (see 6.4.10) in inches; and output states (NO for normally open, NC for normally closed, and NONC for both normally ope
、ned and normally closed), as follows (see 6.6): a. AC - 0.5 - NO b. AC - 1.0 - NO c. AC - 1.5 - NO d. AC - 0.5 - NC e. AC - 1.0 - NC f. AC - 1.5 - NC g. DC - 0.5 - NONC h. DC - 1.0 - NONC i. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.2. 3.2 Switch characteristics. 3.2.1 AC switches, electrical characteristics. AC switches shall be two-wire devices and shall operate in s
、eries with the load. Each switch shall have one NO or NC solid-state output. 3.2.1.1 Operating voltage. The load and switches shall operate across a single-phase power source of 65 to 130 volts alternating current (VAC), 60-hertz (Hz). Operation for 115 VAC shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-1399-3
、00, Type I (see 4.5.1). 3.2.1.2 Voltage drop. The voltage drop across each switch, during the activated (ON) state, shall be not greater than 4.0 VAC root mean square (rms) at rated load current (see 4.5.1). 3.2.1.3 Leakage current. The leakage current through each switch, during the deactivated (OF
、F) state, shall be not greater than 3.0 milliamperes (mA) rms (see 4.5.1). 3.2.1.4 Load ratings. The load rating of the switches shall operate as specified (see 4.5.1). The load ratings of the switches shall be as specified in 3.2.1.4.1 through 3.2.1.4.4. 3.2.1.4.1 Resistive. Switches shall have a r

Switches shall operate inductive loads with a power factor between 1 and 0.35. As a minimum, switches shall have a make-cur
、rent rating of 10.0 amperes rms for three cycles of the specified operating voltage and a break current rating (see 6.4.2) of 1.25 amperes rms. 3.2.1.4.3 Minimum load. Switches shall operate with a minimum load of 15 mA rms. 3.2.1.4.4 Overload. Absolute overload and short circuit protection are desi
、red. As a minimum, switches shall be protected from continuous overloads which would result in up to 6.0 amperes rms at normal output voltage. For devices which utilize a change of state of the switch from normal to overload, interruption of the operating voltage to restore normal operation of the s
、witch after an overload has been detected is permissible. For devices which provide overload protection by current limiting as the protection logic, normal system performance shall be automatically resumed when the overload condition is rectified. 3.2.1.5 Multiple switch operation. Multiple switch o
、peration shall be as specified (see 4.5.1). 3.2.1.5.1 Series connection. Switch designations shall operate with two identical switches in series with a power source of 65 to 130 VAC. Switch designations shall operate with three identical switches in series with an operating voltage of 115 VAC in acc
、ordance with MIL-STD-1399-300. The switch voltage drop shall not be greater than 4.0 VAC rms per switch at the rated load current. 3.2.1.5.2 Parallel connection. Switch designations shall operate with two identical switches in parallel. The total switch leakage current through the load shall be not
、greater than 4.0 mA rms. 3.2.1.6 Transients. Switches shall continue to operate without degradation when the operating power or output is subjected to voltage and frequency transients in accordance with MIL-STD-1399-300 for 115 VAC, Type I power (see 4.5.1). The spike voltage test amplitude shall be
