SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers Initiator, Propellant Actuated, Delay JAU-4

2、IA25, Assembly loaded with IIA pellets, an X42 primer and a delay elenient for use in conjunction with other propellant actuated devices in aircrew emergency e scape systems. 2. 7、erties.-Mechanical properties required by the dratring shall be uniform throughout the part within specified tolerances. 3.6 Shear Pin Strength.-The shear pin after application of protective finish shall shear when a load of 41 +_ 5 pounds is applied at the steady rate of 0.125 inch per minute. . 3.

8、7 Protective finish.-Protective finish shall be in accordance with the applicable specifications and drawings and shall apply to all surfaces of the component regardless of contour. 3.8 riemetic seal.-The assembled initiator y less the firins mechanism shall withstand 14 PSI , internal external pres

9、sure differential with a maximum permissible leak rate of 1 X lo- cubic centimeters per second. - 3.9 !JoJkri.anship. -The requirements for workmanship are as specified on the applicable drawings y referenced Specifications and the following: 3.9.1 Metal defects.-The part shall be frez from cracks,

10、splits, cold shuts, inclusions, porosity or other retal defects. 3.9.2 =.-The part shall not have a burr which nizttt be injurious to personnel handling the item. 3.9.3 -reign matte?.-The part or assembly shall not contain cliips, dirt, grease, oil, rust, corrosion or other foreign matter. 4. QUALIT

11、Y ASSUAXCK PTOVISIOXC 4.1 ResponsibiliQ for inspection.- Unless otherwise specif icd in the con- tract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for tlie perforxime of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use h

12、is own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requireiccnts specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Govern:iient reserves the right to per- form any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to as

13、sure supplies and services conform to prescribed re- quirements. 4.1.1 Quality assurance terms and definitions.-Reference shall be siade to MIL-STD-109 to define quality assurance terms used. 4.1.2 Inspection.-Inspection shall be in accordance .with 1U.L-A-2550. : 4.2 First article sampls. 4.2.1 Ini

14、tial production sample-.-& the beginning of regular production, a sample shall be submitted in accordance with contract requirements and shall consist of 21 assembled initiators for ballistic tests, 50 shear pins, and LO sets of un- assembled parts for visual and dimensional examination and tests. 3

25、Inspection ment.-The exanination and tests sliall be made using equipment listed on IEL 11731740. 4.4 =st methods and procecf_u_res_L 4.4.1 Shear pin strength.-after application of protective finish, the pin shall be subjected to the shear strength test to detemine cosipliance with 3.6. testing mach

The test shall be performed in the fixture in conjunction with a tensile 4.4.2 Protective finish.-Test procedures for protective finish shall be in accordance with the specification referenced on tlie component drawing. 4.4.3 Breakaway torque-. -A torque wrench cet at the torque requireineiit s

27、pecified in 3.2 shall be used in conjunction with the fixture to determine the adequacy of the joint. The torques shall be applied (1) between the female body and male body and (2) betveen the iwle or feniale body and the body and (3) between the body aiid the housitic. 4.4.4 Residual ma$netisri_.-T

28、he initiator shall be tested for excessive residual magnetism using an approved coinpass in an area free of local magnetic effects, by placing the initiator 6 inches from and at the same height as the compass in a north-south horizontal position (housing end at south) with the coinpass set in an eas
