SCOPE 1.1 General 1.1.1 This Standard Practice establishes requirements for ball valves with CWP ratings. This Standard Practice provides requirements for the following: a) Pressure-Temperature Ratings b
、) Materials c) Design d) Dimensions e) Marking f) Testing 1.2 References 1.2.1 Standards and specifications adopted by reference in this Standard Practice and names and addresses of the sponsoring organizations are shown in Annex B. It is not considered practical to refer to a specific edition of ea
、ch of the standards and specifications in the individual references. Instead, the specific edition references are included in Annex B. A product made in conformance with the edition reference applicable during the time of manufacture, and in all other respects conforming to this Standard Practice, w
、ill be considered to be in conformance even though the edition reference may be changed in a subsequent revision of this Standard Practice. 1.3 Description 1.3.1 The term ball valve as used in this Standard Practice refers to a valve whose closure member is spherical and rotates 90 between full open
、 and full closed. Examples of typical designs and the names of the basic parts are shown in Annex A. NOTE: The valve sketches shown in Figures A1 through A4 are for the purpose of illustration and nomenclature only and do not represent or endorse any manufacturers product. 2. PRESSURE-TEMPERATURE RA
、TINGS 2.1 Basis of Rating The pressure-temperature ratings for assembled valves shall be determined by the material of the body, seats, stem seals, end connections, or any other component or type of construction that would be restrictive. The minimum rated temperature shall be 200 F. Manufacturers s
、hould be consulted for exact ratings applicable for a particular material or type. 2.2 Cold Working Pressure (CWP) 2.2.1 The minimum cold working pressure shall be 125 psi. 2.2.2 The cold working pressure rating of the valve shell and components is the maximum allowable non-shock pressure at 100 F.
、2.2.3 The maximum working pressure at any other temperature shall not exceed the cold working pressure rating. 3. MATERIALS 3.1 The valve pressure boundary parts and bolts shall be made from metals that have the allowable stress established for the temperature range for which the valve is designed.
、Materials shall be made to ASTM or other internationally recognized standards for which mechanical properties and chemical composition data are available. 3.2 All wetted parts shall be constructed of materials such that the assembled valve will meet the requirements of NSF 61, Section 8. 3.3 Preferr
、ed bolting materials are as specified in ASME B16.34 Table 1, Group 4. If non-listed materials are used, the valve manufacturer shall be prepared to certify that the products are at least equally suitable for the intended use.
