SMOCK, FOOD INSPECTORS This General Services Administration has authorized the use of the Commercial Item Description in preference to MIL-S-1820. Abstract. This commercial item description c

2、overs a long white smock made of cotton twill or drill cloth used by personnel of the Military Services engaged in food inspection activities. Salient Characteristics. The smock shall be single breasted, with a notched lapel, cut-on facings, four front snap fasteners, two breast pockets with pencil

3、pocket within the left breast pocket, two lower patch pockets, two side hand openings, top collar and sleeves finished with adjustable cuffs with snap fasteners (see figure i). The snap fasteners shall be brass, style 2, finish 2, male and female complete, consisting of a s-ocket with button size 1

4、or 2, and stud with eyelet size 1 or 2. Material. The basic material of the smock shall be carded white cotton twill cloth or white cotton drill cloth. 8、 yd oz. min) Thread. The cotton thread for seaming and stitching the smocks shall be a soft finish, white, machine thread, ticket No. 30, 3 ply and ticket No. 50, 3 ply. Sizes. The smock shall be provided in the following sizes: Sizes - Small, Medium, Large, X-Large NOTE: Small, Medium, Large and X-

9、Large may be abbreviated as SM, MED, LG and XLG. Labels. A commercial type label is acceptable, provided that an additional printed cloth containing the contractors name, contract number, size and National Stock Number (NSN) is caught on the stitching of the commercial label. The commercial label sh

10、all include fiber and laundering information. Patterns. The government shall furnish a single size pattern. The contractor is responsible for grading patterns for additioiii.1 sizes. The patterns generally provide for a seam allowance of 3/8 inch for joining seams and 1/2 inch for double lapped, dou

11、ble stitched seams. The government patterns shall be used to make the contractors working patterns. The government patterns shall not be altered in any way. The working patterns may be modified to accommodate automation; however, if the working patterns art? modified the design and measurements must

15、eaned, and all loose thread, lint, and foreign matter removed. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers shall submit samples of their intended production. The Product Demonstration Model will consist of units independently developed. Product Demonstration Models will be analyzed and eval

16、uated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product Demonstration Models will be retained by the government. One (1) Product Demonstration Model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing standard for the corres

17、ponding production items delivered under this contract. Offerers are advised that the Product Demonstration Model does not relieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description requirements specified above. 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleN

The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the produce

19、rs own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for, under the provisions of the contract. Examination. Lots of smocks shall be i

20、nspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes“, ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality Control. Visual Examination. The inspection level for visual examination shall be II and the AQL 2.5 expressed in terms of defects per hundred unit

21、s. The sample unit is one smock. Dimensional Examination. The finishod smock shall conform to the dimensions specified. Any dimension that is not within the established tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The sample unit shall be one smock; the inspection level shall be S-3 and the AQL shall

22、be 4.0 expressed in terms of defects per hundred units. Packaqinq Examination. The fully packaged shipping containers shall be examined in accordance with defects listed below. The lot size shall be the number of shipping containers in the inspection lot. The inspection level shall be S-1 and AQL sh

23、all be 2.5 expressed in terms of defects per hundred units. Examination Defect Material Content Missing, damaged, not as required. The smock shall be examined for the following defects: any hole, cut, tear, needle chew, burn, smash, mend or multiple float, slub or shade bar; any part shaded; thread ends not trimmed or loose threads not removed; any spot or stain on outsid

25、e; one or more shade markings not removed; any component part or operation omitted; any omitted, not securely attached, mismated, or otherwise defective snap fastener; any open seams, raw edges, or runoffs; label missing, incorrect or illegible; measurement of smock not as specified. Inspection of P

26、ackaqinq. The sampling and inspection for the preservation, packing, marking and palletization requirements shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1, Table III, Preservation Inspection Provisions for Methods/Submethods of MIL-P-116. The applicable defect descriptions of this table II shall be exte

27、nded to include the intermediate and shipping containers and the unitized load. Also included shall be a count of the specified container quantity and identification of specified contents, e.g., all items within any one carton shall be limited to one type, class and size. Packaqinq, Packinq, Markinq

28、, and Palletization Packaging, packing, marking and palletization shall be in accordance with ASTM-D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging, as specified for shipments to the Department of Defense, including Section 7. Preservation. Each smock shall buttoned and folded. Five smocks of one

29、size, shall be stacked with collars alternated and securely tied with cotton tape or twine. Packinq. Twenty (20) smocks of one size only shall be packed in a snug-fitting container conforming to RSC-L, type CF (variety SW) or SF, class domestic, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. Palletization. When specified

30、in the ordering data, shipping containers shall be palletized on a 4-way entry, wing type pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. container and each pallet load shall contain items of no more than one NSN.
